I'm sure Texas will do fine without US federal government support. :lenin-sure:

I used to think Texas recession sounded ridiculous, too, but I have to recommend the recent this is hell episode with Gerald Horne about this. If any state is going to secede, it’ll be Texas. The nomenklatura/nascent bourgeoisie had a great deal to gain from breaking up the USSR; who’s to say the American bourgeoisie doesn’t feel the same about the USA? Texas allying with Mexico seems ridiculous though, as it seems no one hates Mexicans more than Texas.

Texas left mexico because it wanted to be in a white country, there is zero, less than zero, chance they ally with Mexico. Its more unrealistic than Elon somehow becoming president of the USA proper.

Texas is already capitalist doe, not much state assets to sell for pennies. Texas becoming independent means they will longer be able to create the dollar and will have to start their own currency, considering the dollar's special place in the world economy, itll be pretty difficult for them to recover.

Though there are some advantages for the bourgeoisie. They could pay workers a lot less and kill whatever worker protections left.

They could still just use the dollar. Plenty of countries use a currency they don't control. It limits your options wrt monetary policy, of course, but it does happen quite often.

All of Texas’s no government shit is on the back of federal aid. If they succeed they would be forced to begin doing the same programs the fed take care of or face collapse.

Which they would be unable to do from the ravenous pushback citizens will give from their lifetimes of propaganda drip.

It probably would take a decade but Texas would collapse. The problem is now that everything by is expected to happen instantly, in the same way people claim twitter is fine because the code hasn’t collapsed on itself yet people will claim Texas is successful as it limps towards collapse

Texas and Mexico will form an allied state? :what-the-hell:

Sounds like he's either trolling or has no idea what he's talking about.

Also, and we've had this discussion before, but the western US would likely need to break off as one whole package due to the water situation. There's also the fact that California grows a massive chunk of the non-corn food for the rest of the US, so I just see California breaking off as extremely unlikely, especially with Texas out of the picture.

Reminds me of BF2142 where they put Russia, China, and Japan in an alliance together because they're next to each other, and there's no sort of history of animosity between them

Russia and Japan never signed a peace treaty after the 1905 Russo-Japanese war and are technically still in armistice. There's contested Islands between the two even today

yes but I looked at a map and they are right next to each other, therefore logically they would work together when resource wars start

They've shown a lot of restraint, yes, but now is the time to fuck over those other guys and steal their resources before they do it to us, so that we can have the most treats in the climate apocalypse

He’s trolling, he said in the thread about his contribution to making the most wildest and absurd prediction. Not sure why so many skip that part. The irony of westerner they take his prediction seriously while making dumb map about China and Russia

Yeah, Texas would never ally with Mexico.

I can actually see the western states warring among themselves over control of water. California could only declare independence if it could dominate the Colorado River watershed and just take their water.

I read a great Russian joke about Medvedev years ago, back when he was president and Putin was PM:

"Putin and Medvedev go out for a dinner meeting in Moscow at a restaurant famed for having vegetable dishes. The waiter asks Putin what he wants. Putin replies "A steak, only a steak." The waiter says "Nothing but a steak?!" Putin replies "yes, a steak." The waiter gets anxious and says "but Mr Prime Minister - what about the vegetable?"

Putin turns to Medvedev and back to the waiter. "The vegetable will have steak, too."

I would put down any amount of money that US will not have any civil war before Russia does

Americans are actually extremely united towards their foreign enemies, much more than almost any other country

Man played a lil too much Vicky 3 before posting today.

Nation states will dissolve as a useful concept as the contradictions are heightened, they're made by and for capitalism and by the time stuff like "Texas and California will seceed" becomes a realistic possibility we'll have passed through the socialism or barbarism keyhole. Sure, there might be a USA and even a few Americans but the mountains are tall and the emperor is far away and all...

California isn't going to "secede" as much as it's going to take over the west. In 5-10 years you'll have armed robots and drones, operated from California, invade Colorado, Arizona and Nevada and push its border far enough east to secure water. I could see those states potentially joining Texas, who will have nukes, to try to push back against the advance of California, but the new California nation-state will probably have nukes, too.

My prediction is you get technofascism on the west coast, christofascism in the south and southwest, socialism in the Midwest and liberal "democracy" in the northeast, with everyone potentially having nukes.

        Faygo for all!

But seriously, the juggalos are a great example of the Midwestern communal ethos. I've lived on the east coast, west coast and in Europe; the Midwest US is the only place I've ever really felt a real pull towards community identity. It's just different here.

Elon Musk is ineligible to run for president, as he was not a US citizen by birth. Same reason why Arnold Schwarzenegger can't run. (:ted-texas: was born outside the US but was still American by birth)

I'd excuse Bear man for not knowing this detail though. Yes, it could be changed, but the American political system is singularly conservative, and I'd expect it to take 20 years to budge at all.
