I really feel like someone could have read the room and told her the audience (which she dropped the Disney bag for) hates strong women.

Also they really can't even decide what they hate half the time and none of them can even begin to describe what woke means to them

They're the most impossible to please audience of all time because they barely have any idea what they want

When her character first appeared in The Mandalorian, I remember the few chuds the show managed to win over were put off by her. "The show's officially gone woke now." "I bet Kathleen Kennedy pushed for this."

Then she appealed to them with her antisemitic and transphobic antics, but no matter how hard she tried they still wanted no part of her "strong woman" character tropes. Face, meet leopard.

Oh god I totally forgot that Kathleen Kennedy existed. Are they still obsessed with her? We are forever trapped in 2016

It's annoying because there are legitimate criticisms to be made of her handling of Star Wars, but it's impossible because you get lumped with the hogs calling her the anti Christ

The hubris of these people is so complete they just can't see it. Same as Musk going all in with the people who hate EVs at the exact same time as every legacy manufacturer bringing multiple BEVs to their model lineups. Massive ego combined with ignorance is a bad combo.

Lol this is probably why every corporation has shifted left on social issues moreso than the alleged cultural liberalism of the people in charge. People who are appealed to by "wokeness" are much easier to please than the opposite. You'll never produce a sufficiently reactionary work for the target audience of this shit, and you'll alienate the overwhelming majority of working age people. Just seems like an awful decision to make.

Also the pool of potential new customers (women, POC, LGBTQ, etc) you can attract is so much larger than the disgruntled and bitter reactionaries who you lose.

Christ, it isn't even that. It's purely a demographic challenge. Gina Carano is a mixed-martial artist turned actress trying to secure a career in a field where her target audience hates her for doing both of those things. Like, if she wants to get a fucking job, she has to appeal to some kind of feminist liberals. Its non-negotiable. That's where the money is.

If Gina Carano was Andrew Tate, this wouldn't be a problem. Tate could have transitioned from Gun-tooting Space Marine to shotgun-wielding frontier badass and received nothing but thunderous applause by these fascist dorks. It also doesn't help that she's in shows with no budget, no direction, and nobody else on the screen who can act worth a damn.

You’ll never produce a sufficiently reactionary work for the target audience of this shit

We produce hits for this crowd all the time. Chuds love Fight Club. They love Die Hard. They love The Matrix. They love Batman. They love The Boys. They love Tulsa King.

They fall over themselves trying to head-cannon away anything that might be conflict with their ideological views. They champion the bad guys to be edgy and ironic. They create whole epic meme sagas with photoshopped vignettes to explain how it ended in their own brains.

The joke about people screaming over "Woke" is the same joke as that classic Trump tweet:

:trump-anguish: The Coca Cola company is not happy with me--that's okay, I'll still keep drinking that garbage.

Chuds will never stop eating your slop when you're an A-lister. They'll only punish you for doing some Ben Shapiro Lifetime crap while being a woman.

She kinda tried that route with her spat of conservative movie roles. I'm sure she's got a dozen one-liners in Terror on the Prairie that amount to "I'm twice as tough as any big city liberal!" followed by a series of epic gun-fu stunts.

But Shapiro's base is so fucking rarified and we're so far removed from the Kay Bailey Hutchinson / Sarah Palin era of Republican politics that she's still too much of a Liberal even when she's explicitly anti-feminist. She would have to renounce her whole claim to fame - her tough-girl MMA legacy - and devolve entirely into TradWife Life.

Abigail Shapiro can pull that shit off, but Gina Carano can't.

Again, I don't think she can pull that off as a woman. Also, just an absolutely miniscule market for stabbing your own daughter movies.

It's not just wealth, sometimes people take what the right say at face value and assume they're being honest....like 'the proud girls'. How long did that last again?

Ben could just make a thirst trap film starring his sister and it'd be the MAGA Avatar in terms of numbers. Every conservative I know is extremely weird about Abigail Shapiro.

i liked Haywire. i even watched it again last year. i think it worked because Soderbergh worked/shot around her weaknesses and played to her strengths: her physicality, her narrow but effective range of facial expressions (pained, warm, calm/assertive), etc. it's a fun movie.

her character in Mando was typical star wars with disney campy-smug, so being a hack cheeseball isn't a dealbreaker. kinda funny that she was opposite Pedro, but i guess if you keep him in a mask for all their scenes, it's harder for him to eat all her scenes for lunch. but i watched another action flick with her as lead (In The Blood) and it was pretty obvious how limited she is outside of giving a knowing smirk, hitting or taking hits.

she is definitely someone who could have only ever been a big action star as part of a well-oiled machine of marquee talents working specifically to elevate her. what an absolute idiot to throw it all away to go make utility grade slop with the third stringers of the Salt Lake City A/V club.

In no way trying to defend this crap film or Carano, but this article is pretty cringe. "Fans are saying...." and 'fans' are two rando anonymous reviews on RottenTomatoes.

Do they have a term for what they want to maximize as "not woke"? Woke means you have moved to a conscious state so the opposite would be ignorant or stupid or at least lacking awareness of one's surroundings.
