Eurocentrism has brought with it the destruction of peoples and civilizations that have resisted its spread. In this sense, Nazism, far from being an aberration, always remains a latent possibility, for it is only the extreme formulation of the theses of Eurocentrism. If there ever were an impasse, it is that in which Eurocentrism encloses contemporary humanity.

Nah Samir Amin. Good guess though, Parenti, at least to me, was influenced by similar ideas to Amin. Parenti's quote about the anti communist framework being able to paint anything in a negative light is based on the same ideas as Amin's critique of culturalism. As Amin says, "culturalism can prove any formulation and its opposite."

I think Samir Amin; aaaaaaaadjsf has been posting from their Eurocentrism book, which I have been meaning to get my friend to read with me.

        E) thank you aaaaaaadjsf for correcting my spelling

You should absolutely read it. Don't worry, it's not some extremely academic work with mathematical calculations, like some of Amin's other works. The English translation is written in language that is understandable, just keep a dictionary or Google handy to look up definitions of words. There are many ideas presented that are more relevant today than ever.

You are clearly not European, so let me point out the vision for myself im a German Student. Jes Fascist partys like AFD or NPD are on the rise but there are enough people like me who are publicly and in school against them I burned down their Posters in may Village and I am not the only one. There where a lot of protestest against the Right wing. And the flyers are just stupid.

AFD is not 'on the rise', stop using cute language like they are some minor party, they are now polling at second place, they were on the rise 7 years ago when they were at 5% or at least 3 years ago when they got 10%, right now they are polling around 20% guess what the SPD polls at 16%, like 20% of the german voters are voting for a Nazi party, then another 30% are voting for you know a fascist party called the CDU/CSU, and yes they are fascist, they are fascist when they propose forcing asylum seekers to work, don't call it slavery because they get paid 3 cents an hour, they are fascist when they send the police to monitor, infiltrate and unlawfully raid left-leaning groups like Last Generation.

Fascism is here, it is in german politics, fascism is no longer on the rise because it is now the ideology of the two largest political parties of Germany and they both make up 50% of all votes. The protests have failed, you cannot defeat fascism by doing a protest march or burning posters there needs to be political action and the SPD, the Greens and the FDP did not act, will not act and are not concerned with fascism at all, the only action we saw get taken against AfD was not because they were fascist but because they were chummy with DER RUSSE and DER CHINESE.

I keep having to yell at germans because they just won't do shit and diminish the problem while this gets worse and worse, and they all give me cutesy shit like "You don't know anything about me or how I feel about fascism/nazism, I'm a green voter" like 'Mein Junge' you cannot vote out fascism especially not when the major political parties are all ok with fascists.

Greens are also fascist party, just of slightly different flavour. Not to mention SPD who are the moderate wing of fascism for a century now.

You'd think if any country would know that you can't vote out fascism it would be Germany, but apparently their "thorough" history of naziism they are taught in schools isn't quite as "thorough" as they think.

The lesson they got from doing the Holocaust was not "genocide is bad" but "Jews are good." Israel is a chance for them to support both.

Intense moralism combined with repressed nationalism. This same dynamic will lead to some switch flipping someday that turns them full-on literal Nazi.

Many (even if admittedly a minority) Antideutsche, especially those affiliated with the magazine "Bahamas" started supporting the AfD in the wake of the refugee crisis of 2015.

Racism and the destruction of the East German left

The aberration of west German "leftism" took over the "left" of Germany and they've never dealt with racism in their ranks or the larger society

Plus all the underground and latent nazism that survived the war

There must be some Germans who starts out joining the left out of good reasons, like wanting to stop racism or climate destruction or poverty and then something happens and they're out there making their great grandfathers proud by supporting Lebensraum and genocide.

What the fuck is going on?

Funny how everyone finds plausible-sounding explanations for why "the left" in Germany does this, while the truth is simply, that this is a propaganda piece. A tiny group posts this and suddenly it's "the left". The actual left is vehemently and overwhelmingly and very, very much verbal about the genocide and freeing Palestine.

I wonder who spun it in a way to discredit all leftists... who could possibly gain from such a thing...?

lmao most of the german "left" are greens who want to nuke Russia, burn coal and create greater Israel, like let's not front

Where is this ground swell of support for Palestine? The polls in Germany are disgusting and the fact there are groups presenting as leftists who are comfortable enough parading genocide rhetoric further confirms the point that there is no real left in Germany, aside from disparate student groups here and there
