Still makes me lol to remember that John Allen Chau thought he could convert them by shouting at them in English and holding a soccer ball

Idk just call them stupid, like genuinely just "You dont believe that shit do you?"

Theres no intellectual process going on behind the scenes to drive belief in this, maybe activating their subconscious sense of "oh no, Im being embarrassing!?" has a better chance of doing anything.

That works, my coworker once told me about the haircut thing in North Korea and I just said "sounds made up" and left it at that and they didnt say anything more on it

I wonder if the DPRK actually has laws on haircuts. I could see them banning, like, rocker mohawks because they hate importing distinctly anglosphere things.

They may just think you're a conspiracy theorist and stupid behind your back

At least that's what my friends do lol

"good. we should do the same thing here."

it will either end the conversation or make it way more fun, win-win

Tell them this is on your top ten list of things that definitely really happened.

It'll probably be the end of the conversation. You'll annoy them, they'll know you're probably right, and since there's no evidence to discuss they don't have any material for prolonging the argument. Unfortunately, they'll still completely believe the next stupid thing they see.

Or...you don't want to have a fight with an elderly relative that's gonna die soon. In that case, I would just pretend you never saw the message.
