It's amazing, meme community removes obvious troll comment and it's censorship

Politics community bans someone for posting negative Biden stories and gets applauded.

Ah yes the good old "join a social media site created by socialists and then get mad that it has socialists on it" move. Classic.

The vast majority of them are white Amerikans; their opinions don't matter on a global scale, and will soon be swept into the dustbin of history as de-dollarization accelerates. The rest of them wish they were crackers; and as such, can similarly be disregarded for minstrelry.

Who the fuck do you think is going to develop anti-corporate media for you? Capitalists?

Your choice is between communists and people who will only make anything if they think they can later sell you out to corporations. Fucking choose morons.

Use your fucking brains. The reason you don't see people other than communists making this software is because it is people with an ideological desire to oppose corporate control that are motivated to make it. You're harming yourselves with this shit.

Too late, they are already asking for people to make forks of lemmy (which would fuck up federation if you delay updates like it happen to us) or just rewriting all of Lemmy code from rust to java and having everyone move there (they wont)

I don't know whether it matters that much at this point. Possibilities:

        1. The liberal forks don't last when lib developers realise there is nothing in it for them except a lifetime of developing it.

        2. The liberal forks eventually corporatise in a way that makes them fundamentally incompatible with the original goal of Lemmy which was to escape corporate control of social media.

        3. The forks continue and it works out fine achieving the original goal.

If 1 or 2 happens, then the issue comes back to communists again.

If 3 happens, it doesn't matter whether it's communists in charge or not the intended goal is achieved.

Honestly i just see 3 not lasting for long and eventually becoming either 1 or 2 and then just bleed users and die, either way Lemmy would just out last them.

Dang Barsoap I almost forgot about that guy, he's definitely not a nazi just a german guy really into 'Homeland' and 'Germanic Tribes'. I remember way back arguing with this dolt about the war in ukraine and him going on unhinged rants, about like fighting to the last ukranian and tankies and shit. Glad to see this 'german green voter' has their priorities right and is concerned about the rising tide of tankism and still not about AfD, CDU/CSU and you know germany in general being complicit in a genocide.

I feel like we did for a bit, then it died down, then renewed after federation and died down again. Basically any large influx of users has them float around for a bit.

I love how they get huffy about getting chain-banned from 20 communities (that have similar mod staffs) when they're caught either being chauvinist, racist, or genocidal. Like, a mod's not allowed to watch you transgress then think "yeah I don't want you in any community I have purview over"? That shit used to be POINT OF COURSE for larger bbforums that had multiple mods for different parts of the forum.

If somebody posts something illegal (like CSAM), you don't want to simply deactivate it and leave it available for 'review' in the mod log. You need the ability to ensure it is not only hidden, but completely and totally deleted in memory, on the disk, in the database, on any caches / CDNs, etc.

Requirement to do so depends on two different factors: Hosting country and site owner country, both of which claim jurisdiction.

This is funny. I am subbed to a bunch of .ml comms and frequently see weird anticommunist shit. Just like a week ago or something I saw this thread on linux@lemmy.ml. I don't remember the specifics but the comments were complaining about how the devs are tankies and support mass murderers like lenin. And went on to equate the devs to some gross people. I did comment but deleted later cause I didn't want to argue with these annoying people. Shit there was some dumb meme post about tiananmen square and how heckin brave freedumb to post it.

The users on .ml do whine about tankies and whatever. And these other instances want to do the same thing but pretend that .ml is filled with tankies not similar crybabies. Like jesus do they have anything else going on than bravely proclaiming to avoid tankies.
