dancing. absolutely throwing ass. maxing the volume out on twerking that shit out. I have a lot of ptsd around exercise and gyms and dance never triggers it. I do it alone and look like a moron but I feel amazing and some weeks its the only way in getting my heart rate up. its half thrashing my body around. ive literally been losing weight (not a goal, im just trying not to be sedentary lately, I used to be in shape :( ) and my butt looks awesome!

I have no innate desire to dance so I rely on Best Saber for cardio. You can get some crazy workouts, there's all the custom maps, you can adjust the speed, there's a per-song "difficulty" level where the blocks from 360 deg instead of just straight ahead and a mod to play any song in that mode.

I wish I had this. My body feels awkward and ungainly and rhythm is barely there

Downloaded Just Dance on the switch like a year ago to do this. Then I proceeded to never use it while telling myself I would. Kind of scared to look at its monetization. I started going to the gym lately, so I no longer have that "I need to be more active" drive, but I think I will finally spin it up soon after reading this.

If you have an old Wiimote lying around and a computer with bluetooth connectivity, you can load up Dolphin and have free access to like twelve Just Dance games

I was thinking earlier that my constant commentary on rowing might be kinda ableist so let me just say that I am happy that you are exercising in any way possible and taking care of yourself!!! Not everybody can row, not everybody needs to, although my posts literally say the opposite. I'm just trying to use overwhelming enthusiasm to encourage others to do a thing that has really benefited me but diminishing others is not part of that intention

I was thinking other people might so I already had the thought but I'm glad it doesn't bother you when I post <3

There's a good exercise I like to do where I like put my right knee up on an ottoman, left foot on the floor leg straight but with my foot maybe 2 feet behind me, right hand on the ottoman, and I reach down with my left hand to lift a dumbbell straight up to like my chest/armpit area. It's kind of a rowing motion and works some of the same muscles, biceps, lats, etc.

I don't lift it all the way from the floor, I pick it up to the point where it's basically even with my right hand and my right arm is straight and supporting my shoulder like a column, then I start doing reps from there

if someone knows the name for what I am describing please give it to op so they can google it lol

sorry if my description doesn't make sense but it's something you could do with a kettlebell

i always do pullups because i have an irrational fear of falling off high places and not being able to climb up

im at the point where grip strength would give me way higher gains in terms of survival chances but idk im used to the pullups

in all likelihood i will not be able to grab onto anything if i do fall and all of this is for naught but my brainstem just does its own thing shrug-outta-hecks

i used to have a grip exerciser thing for my hands back when I was trying to get a girlfriend lol. Also I was never able to to pull ups till this boy in high school yelled at me "she can't do it because girls are not meant to do pull ups" around 5 months later I beat that boy in a pull up contest. pure enby spite is the best motivation lol

For my whole life I've definitely had a gender norm-y WASPy aversion to dancing but since I have the luxury of a home gym the past few months I've been dancing between sets to stay warmed up and it's been so wild to feel myself gaining flexibility and getting better at inhabiting my own body just from going bonkers in my garage
