decided I'm not joking, even people using them "ironically" or jokingly here is how the worms seep in. genuine cognitohazards for baby trans too.

Using 4chan language ironically is not funny, definitely agree with you there.

I've been unhappy with the amount of it in this thread recently, when you've overcome or avoided the brainworms it's easy to forget the harm those terms carry. should be discarded completely

Seconding this, a ban on the terms outside spoiler tags? Sure, it should frankly already be covered by the 'no transphobia outside of spoiler tags' clause of the site rules imo. But sometimes I really need to vent about how harmful /tttt/ terminology is for me or others and not being able to use the terms makes that wildly harder. And yeah, sometimes people need to express these things even when they're harmful to themselves and others, which is why they ought to be behind tags to make them avoidable. Also frankly it's not hard to just, bypass the bans by just describing something instead of using the term itself.

well at the very least people should be lightly admonished for using them lol. i guess I can see the ban being impractical but don't think it's controversial that we should be aiming to phase that shit out

edit and I think some of the terms should be uncontroversially blasted off the site. don't tell me "pity passing" isn't a cognitohazard. folks need to be strongly encouraged to not express themselves using straight up harmful language, so I don't really buy the argument tbh. i guess if you're meta referencing the terms to critique them then it could be fine. but like I said I've seen people throwing them around jokingly which should be dealt with imo

My experience with the cis, in rural conservative areas even, is they don't care or even better they've never even heard being trans is a thing lmao

Makes passing easier if they literally don't know you can trans your gender, least I felt like it was

Old conservative Midwestern ladies love me. They don't know what I'm capable of.

i didn't feel the need to add a disclaimer that obviously it isn't "most folks" in every possible milieu. but I think it straight up is on a broad enough scale

I mean I've seen plenty of polls that show favourability of "trans rights" or whatever as a viewpoint that most people hold in a good few countries. obviously this is just a cursory perspective biased by being english speaking / global north. and obviously people vaguely supporting trans people isn't the same thing as supporting full on queer liberation. but I would say the libs are not in the worst spot esp compared to 20 years ago and being doomer about it is regressive (not saying you were doing that)

i still think it's a true statement across the board. plenty of places outside the core are places where the average person is less likely to be bombarded with transphobic propaganda every day, Brazil for example is the country where people are most likely to say they know a trans person. i obviously don't have data to back this up (if it even exists), shooting from the hip here with vibes based analysis but i think the original statement is just true. i acknowledged that the starting point of the assumption, the data i am familiar with, is skewed that way, but i think its unfair to say i was doing crypto-eurocentrism or whatever because i did mean the original statement as universal.

If you've told her to stop, block her or report it to the mods. I wish her the best too but there's no reason to be in your DMs making you want to leave the site.

i regretted wading into drama and deleted my comment. it's fine, she can feel free to vent in my DMs cause i saw she caught a tempban but logging off would be more ideal

Yeah I guess, I sometimes worry I'm being tacky discussing drama-ish stuff, Idk what the limit is. Agreed about threadstinking though.
