I'm gonna baselessly call transgender people a bourgeois scheme so that I can feel more leftist for being a bigot rather than less.

@nutomic@lemmy.ml this is being misread right? You're opposing the stupid concept that the bourgeoisie are promoting transness (when they are clearly massively funding the hate machine). Right?

Because this is stupid as shit if it's the other way around. It's very clear that any trans support that did occur was simply part of trans falling under the lgbt movement, and that support for lgbt people occurs because pinkwashing is a useful tool of framing the west as "moral" for the purposes of imperialism. This does not make lgbt people (gay or trans) invalid and it is stupid as shit to take that position.

The bourgeoisie's support for lgbt people is as sincere as Israel's support for lgbt palestinians and only someone with eyes blinded by unexamined bigotry chooses not to see that.

"That's interesting. The ass-cleaning topic is clearly promoted by the bourgeoisie, going as far as stocking toilet paper in grocery stores or installing bidets on toilets. Yet the same bourgeoisie is secretly promoting a lack of awareness about and access to good anal hygiene? Seems rather far fetched to me! This is why I as a good Marxist refuse to clean my ass. *smug smug*"

Marcie was bragging about banning a big batch of transphobes earlier, you love to see it. Hope trans spaces can be thoroughly purged and protected, though Lemmy.ml is going to be a lot rougher territory considering it's federated with .world.

Nutomic unfortunately contributes a significant number of commits to Lemmy and they tend to be pretty important bugfixes, core structural changes, and code optimization.

    https://github.com/hexbear-collective/lemmy/graphs/contributors

I have personally called him out on the trans issue before but he just doubles down while the rest of the lemmy/lemmygrad community kind of ignores him socially. I don't think he realizes we'd be nice to him like Desslines if he just wasn't an asshole.

I imagine most people here would be chill with Dessalines being a hexbear regular if he wanted to. But I'm not sure what either of them are motivated by since I don't see them around much (could just be alts though).

a little while ago, a project by the name of "polyMC" which is an open source minecraft launcher, got coup'd by the one transphobic dev and he managed to totally sieze power over the discord server and the github repository, and kick all the other devs off. the other devs all had to fork polyMC and rebase their efforts on whats now "prism launcher" which is of course very rainbow themed and whats generally recommended by minecraft players

There was also that time just recently like 1~2 months ago where he was doing some really sussy and shameful hemming and hawing about what did and did not count as CSAM. You can find that in the modlog.

I dunno, it's just a terrible shame, 'cause I had assumed that Nutomic was an upstanding fellow when I first joined Hexbear, and I was very enthusiastic about his Ibis project. To find out that he not only is an asshole who refers to trans women as "biological men" and who defends pedos and fascists, and that these complaints have lasted for years seemingly without any major repercussions is... Sheesh. Like, maybe this guy should not be in anything even remotely approximating a position of power, you know?

Alas, if only I knew how to code. Even before these revelations I'd been imagining my own SLiki idea as potentially functioning a bit similarly to Ibis.

why would anyone think rainbowwashing is sincere and not just a form of opportunism attempting to exploit queer movements

In some cases it's also an effectively free concession to pressure from workers internally. Like I know of one tech company in particular - through knowing some people who worked there at the time - where the little pro-LGBT stuff they'd occasionally do was the result of queer employee groups pushing for them internally. It's still an empty and cynical statement, but it's avoiding internal tensions instead of courting public approval.

Isn't nutomic pointing out a contradiction in someone else's transphobic rhetoric here?

Transgender topic is pushed by bourgeois

and yet, at the same time bourgeois is pushing anti-trans topic

    sounds far fetched to me.

and then off-handedly remarking that the transphobic narrative is off-topic, am I missing something?

They're replying to someone who seems to have asked if they could develop a browser add-on that interacted with Lemmy. Maybe to filter transphobic spam, and attributed such content as the work of the bourgeoisie? Which they disagree with because they've observed rainbow imperialism. Looks like this was a 1:1 private message on some kind of web site.

Nutomic sucks ass but it should be noted that so does Shinigami Eyes. Leftist acounts that are proactivly critical of democrats or anti-zionist lose their green and go neutral constantly. Most noteably recently I noticed that Shaun lost his green on twitter and youtube. Which has to have been because whether because of an actively liberal admin team or just whatever the algortyhm is being susceptible to bad actors, liberals were able to mass report him as "neutral" for being critical of Biden lol.
