Looks like we upset a few too many residents over at lemmy.ca. I didn't see a post about this on here, so I thought I'd go ahead and make one.
2 of 4 reasons why are basically just PPB lol, and a third is for calling for executions of landlords
that actually sound well-written if you disregard the fact that China is an oppressive regime
Translation; "I don't know how to counter these arguments, so I'll just assume its propaganda and move on"
a liberal’s thought process consists of inventing a conclusion and selectively interpreting evidence
The quote
In the United States, for over a hundred years, the ruling interests tirelessly propagated anticommunism among the populace, until it became more like a religious orthodoxy than a political analysis. During the Cold War, the anticommunist ideological framework could transform any data about existing communist societies into hostile evidence. If the Soviets refused to negotiate a point, they were intransigent and belligerent; if they appeared willing to make concessions, this was but a skillful ploy to put us off our guard. By opposing arms limitations, they would have demonstrated their aggressive intent; but when in fact they supported most armament treaties, it was because they were mendacious and manipulative. If the churches in the USSR were empty, this demonstrated that religion was suppressed; but if the churches were full, this meant the people were rejecting the regime’s atheistic ideology. If the workers went on strike (as happened on infrequent occasions), this was evidence of their alienation from the collectivist system; if they didn’t go on strike, this was because they were intimidated and lacked freedom. A scarcity of consumer goods demonstrated the failure of the economic system; an improvement in consumer supplies meant only that the leaders were attempting to placate a restive population and so maintain a firmer hold over them. If communists in the United States played an important role struggling for the rights of workers, the poor, African-Americans, women, and others, this was only their guileful way of gathering support among disfranchised groups and gaining power for themselves. How one gained power by fighting for the rights of powerless groups was never explained. What we are dealing with is a nonfalsifiable orthodoxy, so assiduously marketed by the ruling interests that it affected people across the entire political spectrum.

Good bot. I am glad to see that our robotic comrades are joining us in the struggle.
CNN told me China bad, don't need any more information then that
Arguments I agree with = well-thought-out
Arguments I disagree with = Chinese propaganda
"Whew, those dastardly communists almost had me there with that instructive and enlightening argument. Thankfully my
hegemonic capitalist programmingFACTS AND LOGIC kicked in and I rejected their arguments immediately without further thought."How do they not realize what an incredible self-own that shit is lmao
“I have come to a predetermined conclusion and will not change my mind no matter the evidence because China is inherently bad (totally not racist btw)”
that actually sound well-written if you disregard the fact that China is an oppressive regime
Holeeeeeeeee shit.
Your honor, the evidence that I’m guilty sounds well founded only if you disregard the fact that I’m not guilty.
You might as well stick your fingers in your ears and start drooling
the ball flew so far over their head that it left near earth orbit.
while the other half parrots more Chinese propaganda (that actually sound well-written if you disregard the fact that China is an oppressive regime).
Under liberalism, there are no good or bad actions, only good and bad teams
half of them replies with huge and ugly emojis
Our emojis may be huge due to the lemmy bug (I've been trying to refrain posting some outside of the instance due to that), but ugly ?!
How dare them, we have the best emojis
Me: Mom I want expertise on China.
Mom: We've already got a China expert at home.
The China expert at home:
50% of posts are well-written arguments? Not a bad ratio, frankly. Good posts, guys.
Like all leftists we're pathetically vulnerable to engaging in lively debate about economics.
TLDR: if you want to know if an instance will defed hexbear, check its instance block list for lemmygrad.
been making stray comments here and there about this, I'm telling y'all if an instance defeds lemmygrad it is 1000% going to defed hexbear, we're calmer and more solitary than y'all, so all the accusations of trolling or brigading or just generally being "ebil tankies" against the grad can and will be used against hexbear too. I fully expect .world to defed lemmygrad in the next couple months too once they're finally got their shit under control. Is what it is, hopefully normal users still manage to find us and switch to instances that aren't ran by anticommunists.
This. I was surprised to find that they were even federated with hexbear. Lemmy.ca was on my shortlist of instances to join when I was moving to Lemmy. Blocking lemmygrad was reason enough to find a different instance.
I feel like we sometimes overstate the we are calmer/polite/respectful part. There was a hexbear user telling another hexbear user that our emojis in federated communities were a little disruptive (because they are really big) and they apologized, but another user replied to them with a ppb lol
They're from lemmygrad and saying that lemmygrad is the calmer one, from my reading. Also, lemmygrad added pronouns? Based
nah, some people just started adding them after interacting with us
I do see that lemmygrad is more aligned to some ML types, while hexbear is a bit wider, which does make for a difference. But it doesn't seem the strain of communism is the main problem for the de-federating people.
However we have a more diverse set of opinions in our user base, since we don't ban people that quick (i.e. in terms of war in Russia we have some revolutionary defeatists, some anti imperialists who favour a weakening of the imperialist NATO (which really irks other instance admins, etc.).
To moderate a sub sub sub comment of a main thread is a bit funny though.
When I saw that thread last night, I was expecting the links to the "offenses" to be wild. But then it was just bathroom humor, and a singular call to execute landlords, which I found hilarious.
I just do not understand the lack of humor of a lot of people, on these instances. You'd swear their lives are devoid of happiness.
A lot of those are pretexts for defederating I think
What rubs them the wrong way is our position on various issues (despite them being far more deeply argued and sourced than the paltry answers we usually get)
Also, admittedly and to a lesser degree, likely the fact we're numerous and terminally online so anytime something dunkable is posted even the small subset of online hexbear users that see it appear on their feed and interact must look like an army to them
They hate Trump because he dismisses them and posts better than them, not because the valid reasons. They hate us for the same reason
Guilty. I will happily reply to every single comment in a thread without even really thinking about it. People think I'm stalking them and it's like "nah, I've just made twenty comments in every single post that was posted today, that's all".
Guaranteed most of them have some interesting opinions on the indigenous people of Canada and how they ended up in their current situation.
Step 1: Execute landlords
Step 2: Land doesn’t actually get properly distributed and a new landlord rises
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit?
(Step 5: Revolution all over again)
Edit: /s in case it’s not clear. sigh Poe’s Law sucks 🤦♂️
Uhh excuse me I'm sorry what was step 2 again??
they also purposefully obscure and ignore the distinction between personal property (held for use) and private property (held for profit)
In my experience, it has genuinely not occurred to most liberals that those are different things, but then when presented with the distinction they pretend not to have heard it.
My experience is that liberals, upon hearing the difference, will start conflating the two. Like they'll say their house is both personal and private, since they intend to use it as an investment.
What a miserable way to see housing
The Maoist uprising against the landlords was the largest and most comprehensive proletarian revolution in history, and led to almost totally-equal redistribution of land among the peasantry.
Calls China an Oppressive Regime
Based in country that swore fealty to a pedophile enabling racist royal family which leeches off the people of the UK and imprisons people standing against monarchy.
The UK complaining about China is really rich given the way their courts work, their actual literal king and unelected house of parliament, ASBOs, and the UK being far and away the most exhaustively surveilled country in the world.
The whole point is that whoever you're replying to has descended in to silly chud shit and there's no longer any point engaging with their "ideas", but apparently our refined linguistic achievements are too complex.
Yes, agree.
The only thing that irks me is that there's only 6k britbongs living in those islands, and feels like rule-of-thumb kicking britbongs back to the UK always seem like the correct thing to do. But yes, they live there.
they literally have 0 concept of the procession of history, and how the founding of your country less than 200 fucking years ago very much does matter to the present day???
"Moralists don't really have beliefs. Sometimes they stumble on one, like on a child's toy left on the carpet. The toy must be put away immediately. And the child reprimanded. Centrism isn't change -- not even incremental change. It is control. Over yourself and the world. Exercise it. Look up at the sky, at the dark shapes of Coalition airships hanging there. Ask yourself: is there something sinister in moralism? And then answer: no. God is in his heaven. Everything is normal on Earth."
There are so many treaty conflicts going on in Canada right now. O KKKlanada!
Having grown up native in Canada, I assure you that this is the view held by the majority.

garbage cheap chinese breadboard for $1 I use as solder fixture
my good breadboard is $10 it is much better.
Yes, he is. The other high upvoted poster I linked to is in the military. So a prison guard and a soldier were among the two loudest voices to have Hexbear banned.
If you like this you might also like that

Who the fuck is talking about breadboard quality. The whole point is that it's cheap and temporary. Also the "good breadboard" is 100% also Chinese. Plus he sucks at soldering, he uses too much solder so all the joints are balling up. It's supposed to be concave and shiny.
concave

Image showing what you mean by that.
Not all landlords are bad, but all people under 30 can't afford to live in Canadian citys.
It's almost as if landlordism requires participating in a system of exploitation no matter how "nice" the individual may be
Idiots falling for that lazy argument still.
Somewhat like cops, not every individual is an evil, Machiavellian monster harboring Hitlerian-esque notions of governance and law. However, their existence continues to perpetuate a (horrific) status quo, AND NOBODY IS BORN A COP OR LANDLORD.
Don't like being called a parasitic bastard? Quit then fucker lmao
Well, federation was an interesting experiment. Lemmygrad and hexbear
yeah its kind of shocking how bare the sidebars are on most of the places I've looked
Special shoutouts to @AccountVerificationBot@hexbear.net, @duderium@hexbear.net, @Sasuke@hexbear.net, @GaveUp@hexbear.net (and probably also @Frank@hexbear.net), and @GorbinOutOverHere@hexbear.net for being called out specifically.
For the record I think I only posted pigpoopballs two or three times and stopped when people here on hexbear started complaining about it.
Edit: all violence is bad except for structural violence that funds my treats. We have to help the mom-and-pop landlords fight the evil woke global elitist landlords. All revolutions inevitably destroy themselves which is why I am literally a peasant living on a manor and capitalism never happened (since it is human nature and if anything the nature of the universe (who is God except The Great Investor? What was the Big Bang except a massive and highly profitable investment?)), excuse me now while I have my eighth meltdown about China for the day.
Lol i didn't even DO ANYTHING. I've been so polite compared to how rude I am usually
It is an indictment of my posting that I wasn't mentioned there. Should have posted harder

How did I never realize we had a Shuba emote? Now I gotta figure out what other VTuber emotes I can sneak in...
You were in there riffing on Kkklanada with GaveUp, so I figured you were being implicitly included there.
We're totally denying any validity to their position with a vulgar and grotesque reply. It's about as rude as you can get, which is no less than most of them deserve.
That is the one thing the admins of those instances could really enforce, just ban people for usage of it and be done with it, but no instead ban 20k people.
Adding to the discussion = spending hours arguing with me over my basic misunderstanding of the world until I declare victory by citing The Economist and calling you a tankie
And dragging on an argument one point at a time, completely disconnected from the pace of the thread, because I only have like 3 arguments that are all memorized slogans, and have to space them out for dramatic effect
I never bought into this whole "Canada" thing anyway
No fucking way that's a real country
