Sometimes babies need restorative cosmetic surgery if they're born all fucked up. There's cleft palates and other things that should be fixed.

Not a fan of violating an infant's right to bodily autonomy tbh

FGM can range from a tiny ceremonial cut into the clitoral hood to some pretty terrible mutilation. Cutting the clit is AFAIK not the least horrific, nor is it the most commonly practiced type of FGM. All this is not to downplay the severity of the issue. We must be careful not to fall into stereotypes of African/Muslim savagery. We need to find a way to advocate for women's (and trans men's /nb) right to personal autonomy without giving fuel to racist and reactionary talking points.

I need to look up my sources and check again if they're right and up to date. In any case, bare in mind that Wikipedia is not a politically neutral source and it's possible anti-Islamic alarmism has made its way there. When I lived in the UK there was a lot of it with regards to immigrant communities. Again, none of what I say is meant to downplay the need for comprehensive protections of the bodily autonomy of girls and other female-bodied people.

The wiki includes a small non-removing incision in the clit hood in the rubric of type I. It specifically refers to that as type Ia. So the wiki’s not wrong it says the same thing as the above poster.

I don't know if it's just me, but being circumcised is the dick equivalent of wearing a clothes 2 sizes too small. You can tell from pretty early on that something isn't right. It's not uncommon for erections to actually hurt.

I wonder if there's any correlation between circumcision and weird sexual problems.

If possible, I'd consider talking to a doctor about this. I'm circumcised and my dick only hurts if I masturbate way too frequently.

It's not really a hurt so much as a persistent tightness. Like the same feeling you get in your face when you're laughing a lot.

I always just assumed that was a circumcision thing, especially because whoever did mine seems to have really hated skin.

          Edit: Diagnose my dick chapos

I do not have a penis so I’m no authority on the subject, but genital discomfort of any kind should be discussed with your doctor. There might be something that can be done about it.

      I wasn't and I literally didn't even know circumcision was a thing until I was like 11

I was circumcised and I had no idea there was another way until I was the same age probably. Didn't even realize I'd had 'something' done.

I’m sorry, yeast infections are the worst. It’s pretty fucked up he didn’t tell you. Also it’s pretty fucked up for him to ignore his own infection. Yeast infections are itchy as hell (among other unpleasant symptoms).

And having terrible hygiene. People like Trump are labeled germaphobes but in reality they just don't like poor people. They think they are dirty and filled with disease. But when you look at their personal hygiene practices, they are nasty. I seriously doubt Trump is a disciplined hand washer.

What's the struggle here? It's ungood on religious grounds, it's unfounded on scientific grounds, and why would anyone listen to the anti-masturbation lich Kellogg about anything?

I’ve read that it is more hygienic than if you never washed under your foreskin (don’t use soap), but if you do there’s no benefit.

        it was never more hygienic.

edit: literally just think about the logic here.. its more hygienic to hack off part of a dick than... peel back a skin fold when you wash?

better cut off your eyelids, lips, ears.. etc etc wouldnt want to be dirty

I can't peel it back so maybe it would've been better for me tbh, my dad was but I'm not

If you can't pull back your foreskin then you potentially have a medical issue that should be looked at. There's like lotions and shit.

Edit: it's called phimosis. Sorry if that makes you feel weird, it's not particularly uncommon.

Personally, I'm opposed to the practice but generally just for bodily autonomy reasons; let people be old enough to know their body and consent to it. I'm circumcised and my feelings are basically that it sucks that it happened, that I wouldn't do it or ask for it to be done or advise it if I had control over what was happening to a kid, but I wouldn't want my foreskin magically back or do any of those weird regrow procedures.

Like this is my dick as I've known it, I can't remember anything else so there's no baseline to compare it against. Its not like losing vision or a limb later in life; I'm not missing anything that I ever knew I had/learning how to live without something I'm used to - it was gone well before I could use it. My parents' dumb religious practices are dumb, but I have been way more impacted by the homophobia side of religion than the missing skin on my cock side of things.

Lots of people have horror stories about botched jobs, lack of feeling/sensitivity, irritation, erectile issues and worse, but I've never really experienced those from mine so maybe thats why I dont have such an angry outlook about it. If it never happened to me, maybe a couple things would be easier and maybe a couple things would be harder, I'm perfectly satisfied with what I've got, but that doesn't mean other people should have it done to them.
