Burning of gas leaves a lot of nitrogen dioxide, which is a cause for a host of respiratory problems. It isn't a big issue if you have good ventilation, but very few do.
Can't really relate to the being better to cook on, never used a gas range myself.

You get better control over the heat, but it's still possible to work with an electric or induction stove, just takes a bit more focus, and moving your cookware physically off and on the burner.
I agree with the main point of the article, and it is a problem that will keep getting worse. The standards for ventilation in housing is dire and the walls are getting more and more air tight in order to save on energy bills.
Electric ranges fucking suck though.
In the grand scheme of things, emissions from gas cooking are irrelevant when it comes to climate change. The plastic bag your food came in, the car you drove to the store (because public transportation and walkable cities have been gutted), and the fact that you can get fruit from South America in February are far more damaging than turning on the stove.
It's bad for your own health without proper ventilation, that's what they mean in the article, not climate change.
I actually kinda miss the easy clean up on my glass top. But it did take some more finesse than a has stove to cook on.
I'm not a fan of telling people to reduce their personal carbon footprints because I think that's a crock of shit when major corporations are causing like 70% of that. However, using a gas stove without ventilation can really fuck you up long term, so please don't discount this aspect. Hey guys, I'm going to be the dozenth person in this thread who is going to talk about how little gas stoves effect climate change despite that having nothing to do with the health risks of gas stoves.
I want to make a counterpoint here of what I think the article is about based on the headline, because the headline says "environment" and I think that means climate change even though the "environment" here is concerning poor air quality in domestic environments. I swear guys, my points are totally relevant here.
I love my gas stove damnit, and my gas stove doesn't hurt the ice caps, and I want to make sure that your asthmatic bastard children know how great it is to get things crispy on a stove top the way electric stoves can't make it.
Induction stoves are pretty accepted by chefs as a viable alternative to gas. Going to make it hard to char your poblano peppers though.
That's what the broiler is for.

Gas companies are literally paying people to say that. I think the biggest issue is the health problems it can cause people without ventilation, not environmental damage.
