This was likely done for 2 reasons.

      1. The ag position was used as leverage to walk off scott free from sex trafficking.
      2. To make his other picks look better. We will get Ken Paxton.

Oh absolutely, all these meme picks are setting up run of the mill reactionary fanatics to look “reasonable” as the replacements after the meme picks get borked.

You think he'll go to Paxton? I figured he'd just name another Senator - Hawley or Cruz - who can breeze through confirmation without issue.

Why not? He's got the background for the job, at the very least. He's a loyal little toadie, when push comes to shove. He's guaranteed to get confirmed, since Senators love waving each other through confirmation. And he's a vicious piece of shit who will be more than happy to feed Trump's appetite for revenge.

I agree he's dangerous. And there's a real chance he'll plant a knife in Trump's back at the first opportunity. But do you really think Rubio or Hegseth or Gaetz wouldn't do the same?

Toadie: yes, loyal: no. He's been on Trump's shit list since 2015. Too much weasly ambition. The other three are coked out frat boys, not Nixon wannabes.

Depends on whether Trump can strong arm Congress to go on a long recess and just rubber stamp all of his picks through recess appointments.

LMAO, in this day and age, for this ghoul to withdrawal had to have meant they have him dead to rights. Like, in 4k, holding up a USA Today, and his birth certificate while being a .pdf file and a lawyer/stenographer present with a notarized real time play by play. What in the actual fuck is in that report?!! God, it'd be amazing if it gets leaked.

That fool resigned from Congress so he could be AG. For him to drop out of consideration after throwing away his career in Congress they must have some real shit on him.

My understanding is that he resigned in part to dodge the release of the ethics report. He thought he had the AG position locked in and knew that if he left Congress, they'd stop investigating him (since it was an internal rather than criminal proceeding). That just makes me think even more strongly that there must be some totally wild shit in that report.

If any of it gets leaked, it will be from some staffer that will IMMEDIATELY be fired and blackballed, maybe even charged with some nonsense

Nobody in Congress really gains from it and many of them stand to lose everything if ethics inquiries start going public

I don't know how it works in the house but if a senator leaves the governor picks their replacement.

It's completely up to the states. A lot of states have snap elections for Congress. Many states have the same for Senate, but the governor appoints an interim senator.

Because the amount that you've ingratiated yourself to Trump and deepthroated his ego are about to be the only currencies that matter in the US Government. I think a lot of these weirdos 100% believe that Trump is about to have dictatorial-level power for the indefinite future, so any extra effort to stroke him off now is going to pay unlimited dividends in the future. It's also a way of signaling total sycophantic loyalty to the rest of the collection of freaks in Trump's base.
