Chapotistas at 17: "I love Obama and electoralism!"

Chapotistas now: "If you wouldn't strangle the Romanovs with your bare hands you're a coward."

Glad you're online enough to have some more self awareness

Might surprise you that not everyone has that benefit and if someone is only 18 or 19 by the time they turn left we shouldn't be playing the "I was here first" game

i dont htink i've ever not been a communist. the first time i read about the stuff was in the contexts of late 1800s-early 1900s strikes and opposition to them and hitler killing communists in camps when i was 12.

Great. But maybe someone growing up in the Ozarks or Appalachia or the High Plains has to deal with more conditioning than you did.

Similarly, Thunberg having a single-minded ecological focus and being surrounded by think-tank and opinion piece liberals who praise her nonstop delays her ability to think critically on the issue.

I'm sure there's someone who was a Communist at 8 years old. Does that make your leftism insufficient or suspect?

no im not saying that. im not american so people dont really talk about communism all that much, positively or negatively. its just so weird to me people go "oh right working sucks and the world/the rich are out to get you at anytime" at age 30 instead of age 14.

She likely has a feedback loop of connections that will fuck with her views. We really need to get more out in the world and challenge this, especially for up and coming activists.

She's said multiple times that she's not an authority figure and that it's ludicrous that she's even notable or placed on a pedestal - it's an excuse for the capitalist establishment to absolve itself of any responsibility and virtue signal about serious issues because, obviously, it doesn't cost anything to do that.

She's young and impressionable, and stuff like this only highlights what she's already been saying that people have wilfully ignored - that she's a kid who should be growing up but she's cognizant of her diminishing future and is actually saying something about it. That's more than is to be expected of any young person.

i really dont agree that everything is an op. shes a liberal, she has never claimed not to be a liberal. liberalism is extremely common. she's probably just a standard liberal not an op

Yeah, she comes from a very wealthy family that was financially able to drop everything and take her around the world to talk about climate change. She's also a child? Hopefully she sees the massive failings of liberalism and grows out of it, but her current material conditions definitely aren't helping.

She doesn't have anyone near her to challenge her on this so I don't blame her for falling for this. We really need to get out and push back against this.
