That's right folks the year is drawing to a close so it's time to rehash last year's bit, nominate, and vote for your 2024 Hexies! These are the Hexbears you think exemplify what it means to be a real Hexbear
Here's how it works:
-
Pick from the below categories
-
Nominate someone for that category by tagging them
-
If you are nominated respond to the nomination to accept it
-
Most upbeared accepted nomination in each category wins!
What do you win? The esteem of your fellow Hexbearian comrades of course. What more could you want?
The categories for this year's 2024 Hexie awards are:
-
Best Effortposter of 2024
-
Most likely to be called a tankie on a blocked instance
-
Most comradely Hexbear
This year we have a special bonus category to commemorate some of the new comms we added:
- Best bad poster (this is not the worst poster, this is the best poster that is bad at posting)
We got a lot of new posters this year and have a lot of great comrades visiting from federated instances, feel free to participate too! We love all of our great posters, don't we folks?
Alright comrades that's it from me, be sure and do your democratic duty and for your 2024 Hexie winners and congrats in advance to the winners of this highly coveted and prestigious award!
And for one small trip down memory lane, here's last year's Hexies! https://hexbear.net/post/1477104

This bit was fun last year so I hope folks enjoy doing this bit again this year too, as a bit though

lol
In celebration of the new year I’ve decided to compile my conversations with the North Koreans I have talked to
1 of these was a diplomat and the other is a citizen ,our conversations were different that being said they were very interesting so I will post them tomorrow inshallah
I'd like to nominate this moment where I made an offhand mention of a lib who had their own subreddit for monitoring us and hadn't been active in years, then received a reply from said lib in mere minutes, as the wildest moment of the year. Use the "view moderation history" button to see their comments since they were all removed.

Easily goes to @thelastaxolotl@hexbear.net for all the incredible megathreads over longest while, as well as my own personal interest in battlrs for indigenous sovereignty. Tied for it is @SeventyTwoTrillion@hexbear.net and the legendary work they've done in the news megathread. Yall are some of the smartest people I know and I genuinely trust yall like a liberal trusts CNN.
-
Easily @frauddogg@hexbear.net as null has gone on a path of fighting the great white brainworm of white supremacy and seem to be winning. Easily would rip a liberal to shreds and have them repeating nonsense and calling void a tankie within a few replies.
Also a close second for @yogthos@lemmygrad.ml because they've made a name for themselves already and probably is the greatest fear of all lemmy libs.
-
This one's hard so I'll do a few @AshenWolf@hexbear.net, @kristina@hexbear.net @sweet_pecan@hexbear.net, and @corgiwithalaptop@hexbear.net for most comradely. Ashenwolf for her work in the trans comm and the trachat. Kristina for her IRL praxis. Pecan as a stable rock of good takes and steadfast protection of the EMpoc. And corgi because they are the best.
-
@Dirt_Owl@hexbear.net but seriously I think they're one of my favorite, and practically as much a part of hexbear as the name itself. Touch grass everyone but never stop posting dirt owl.
-
Does anyone else not learn usernames? There's me, there's that one person with the awful avatar so I've decided I don't like them, there's like 500 names that I recognize but see as essentially interchangeable, and then there's dirt owl who talks about piss.
I'm.pretty bad at them myself. I've got some frequent repliers and some here and there but to.am extent I think it's best to only half pay attention. Things get a bit cliquey otherwise if left unchecked.
That being said I've seen @corgiwithalaptop@hexbear.net for most comradery and credit where credit is due. Didn't think of it until others did so, but ya seem to really work hard here and elsewhere and generally seem to be there with a decently wise reply for those in need of one. Or you're just goofy and fun.
I remember usernames, yeah. Especially the one of the user that called me "GrossMichael".
Yeah, there's a few main people I remember but mostly everything is just a haze
Nominating myself for best lurker who posts some comments every two months who is too afraid to make an actual post myself after being bullied on r/chapotraphouse but in a deserved way because I only made posts when drunk.
Id like to nominate gay tucker carlson for resuming our past friendship and being nice to me in DMs about personal stuff when they saw id come back to the site after not talking for a long time, also for the best impression of tucker carlson if he was gay. didn't want to @ her bcs it felt awkward.
Ngl im slightly tipsy with friends + family rn posting from the toilet, and the main reason i didnt at them was actually bcss i couldn't work out how to withmy dumb dumb tipsy brain
- Nominate someone for that category by tagging them
My goodness, I'll have a busy time on award night.
- Definitely goes to @yogthos@lemmy.ml for work on .ml which is federated to a bunch of lite instances.
I nominated @QueerCommie@hexbear.net for all of the awards.
To be generous to the other nominees perhaps we may add an award category entitled “all of the awards.”
I nominate myself for the award of most forgettable poster @Gorb@hexbear.net
Wow! I'm so happy. I want to make a speech to thank all the people that made this possible
Thanks me for being there for me when me. Thank you also to me for me when me and most importantly me
If someone wins an award for being forgettable, does that automatically nullify the award?
I, once again, nominate myself for this prestigious award just so I can be the only two times Hexie nominated actor in Hollywood.
1: @largepenis@hexbear.net especially for keeping us up to date on Syria + Lebanon over the past few months. wishing his family well, and hoping his kid has a great life ahead of him
2: @seventytwotrillion@hexbear.net for his staunch loyalism towards The Goddamn News
3: @grebgreb@hexbear.net for hextubely achievements, irreparable damage to my internal mental vocabulary, and for taking me as his apprentice at hextube’s emote factory
4: @bureaucrat@hexbear.net for achievements in mass badposting action until the entire bureaucracy got their bus blown up by the CJNG after their business trip in Oaxaca went horribly wrong :,(
i will accept this reward and and additionally extend thanks to all of the regulars that participate in that thing of ours
semper slurp
2: @seventytwotrillion@hexbear.net for his staunch loyalism towards The Goddamn News
My goodness yes. Those megathreads are beacons of sanity in an insane world. And everyone who contributes to them has my eternal thanks.
Old yeller old yellered old yeller.
One of em deleted their account
Lmao, honestly a better end for it then getting banned because someone posted something shitty
Yeah it most likely was the best possible ending concidering how many people were plugged into the account.
