Look I just hate poor people and want them to die but I don't know why you're being so mean to me :(
I'm allowed to have an opinion but you're not allowed to have an opinion on that opinion. Just because I think the unhoused should be ground up into dog food doesn't mean you can think I'm bad for thinking that, that's unfair.
Homelessness shelters built, NIMBYs move out, property values fall, more people are suddenly able to afford said housing... where's the problem, exactly?
No I get that. I'm just wondering, all else held equal, how a bunch of bougie white folk living near poorer people helps them
In 1937, the Nazis constructed the Buchenwald concentration camp, 7 km from Weimar, Germany. The motto Jedem das Seine was placed in the camp's main entrance gate. (Source)
Lmao All Opinions Matter. My rw relatives do this whenever you try to disagree with anything they say. They want to spew their bs "opinion" then shut you up the second you say anything contrary to it
God, my family loves to pull this shit. They claim their beliefs are obviously and objectively true, but as soon as you give the slightest pushback suddenly it’s all just their personal opinions and everyone’s opinions are equally valid and implying otherwise is meanspirited and hurtful and I need to apologize for being disrespectful.
And then 10 minutes later and they’re back on their bullshit.
Evidence > Reason > Opinion. Usually people with dog shit ideas have missed a step in the chain, if not all of them. If they give an opinion, ask their reasoning. If they give a reason, ask their evidence. Then dissect it by shifting it to a point they've never considered. Don't let them argue 'on script' by disagreeing with them.
Oh, I’ve tried that, believe me. They just say things like “I just feel it’s true” and try and change the subject immediately. Then they get mad at me for making them uncomfortable by asking them to explain their own beliefs. They’ve literally sat down and lectured me that the fact that I got a college education and learned how to critically evaluate ideas means that it’s inherently disrespectful and elitist for me to question why they believe what they do.
Ah well you tried your best. Some people can't be reasoned with.
"I'm a coward who can't stand looking at the consequences of my actions" but with a hundred extra words tacked on.

This is good. I'd much rather deal with libs with their masks off, and I wish more of them would speak like this. It's the millions who know they are assholes so don't say this part out loud, but fucking stuff ballot boxes en masse for ultra-capitalist candidates every local election cycle like they are the People's Blue Army or whatever.
To each their own 😊 she says as she shoves thousands of people into an industrial oven

You should have to watch 1 episode and then listen to that podcast about it.

Anyone who argues their opinion on the basis of having opinions not literally being illegal needs to shut the fuck up forever and should probably be in prison.
I can't help but feel you listened to the new Michael and Us episode.
I was literally listening to it this morning, heard Phil Ochs, and came to check out chat and saw your reply. You actually somehow predicted my listening?!
Work Will Free You and To Each Their Own were two of the idioms the Nazis used at their camp entrances :thonk:
