    I know it happens dozens of times a day, but reading that recent story about the cop walking up to the wrong house and just casually shooting the family dog makes me wish there were more people playing minecraft. yknow, to help take my mind off it.

    If we ever get a national lockdown in the USA (moot point, we never will) to the degree that only grocery stores, pharmacies, and gas stations are open, I want to see big box stores like Target, Walmart, and Costco only be allowed to sell food. COVID was a windfall for them because when things were more shut down here for retail, these corporations made bank by being the only place in town to buy clothes, et al.

      The French government tried to do something similar a few weeks ago; as, among others, booksellers are closed down and were complaining about the same thing, they've ordered supermarkets to close off the parts of the store that sold books and "other non necessary items". Though it's been implemented chaotically, what's closed off tends to change from one supermarket to another and there are not nearly enough control.

      However, it appears that when you do that, people just order that shit online and Amazon benefits instead.

    Found out my job (new york state parks, dox me if you want) had a case very close to me, definetly interacted with that person, but park policy is that until we get a positive test or symptoms, we should keep working. Checked the union page to see if theres anything to do and the first 2 things I see is a statement congratulating Joe Biden and a ad for the union Visa credit card. Do I even bother?

    (I'm working today and calling out my next day so I can get tested, hopefully im fine but lmao)

    I think some of the best opportunities for the left in the upcoming years will be cities abandoned to climate disasters when the federal and state governments are too strangled by austerity to help.

    An autonomous city saving itself with communist principles would be an example to point to, and evidence that there are better systems.

    I don't know where to get started, though, besides trying to organize local leftists.
