portland has really been punching above its weight class this summer considering it's only a city of 650k

Portland is so fascinating. It's a city of hyper liberals, and full on praxis.

It’s cause we are surrounded on all sides by white Supremacists and reactionaries

Not fun fact: Oregon was originally founded as a state where it was literally illegal to be black and exist in the state.

idk if you're just memeing but there were actually people like this in the early united states, they were so racist they wanted to abolish slavery so they could deport all non-white people.

I was a lib in Portland, their DSA is extremely active and aggressive. The one meeting I ended up going to is what finally radicalized me.

i think it's cuz it is one of the few cities on the west coast where you can still get by on a basic service industry wage; it still has a radical working class

Really? That's really fascinating. I was expecting it to be like Austin and super expensive.

portland has a history of deep rooted community groups building solidarity with each other, something a lot of other cities are missing

unironically i know some that do. Public transit is actually good here.

also city lines are a spook anyway

Can you imagine a suburb full of working class people pushed out of the metro area? I can't. It's still the 60s and suburbs are exclusively white and affluent, right?

Really liking how clear cut the "Government vs. Actual People" dynamic is these days.

Remember, we have to serve the people to win them over. Even if this is futile, it's still something.

I like the "local access only" sign as they push back cops that probably don't live anywhere nearby.

stop, local access only, trespassers will be shot, dead end

        sign, sign, everywhere a sign

blocking out police, saving my mind

do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign?~🎶
