that class ruled once we were discussing the idea of class distinction. basically how middle class people aren’t materially too different from working class people and upper middle class vs middle class so on so forth.
they have to distinguish themselves culturally as superior. The example he gave was PBR and how it was seen as a “hick” beer that classy craft beer drinkers or imported beer drinkers would scoff at. Then culturally as hipster absorbed it for clout raised its cultural value via irony, thus moving the bar in a sort of way. PBR was seen as middle brow rather than lowbrow and another beer will take that cultural clout of being the shit beer or whatever and so forth. the other example was wallmart vs target for PMC middle class distinction. it goes on. i wish i could be in that class forever, so many lasting lenses I still apply to situations that give me insight

I need to sit down and actually finish it. Maybe after Cyberpunk. But I'm totally on-board for a sequel from the little I played of DE.
Oh, I know. I started it and then something I wanted to play came out and then by the time I finished that Cyberpunk was around the corner. So once Cyberpunk is done with, I'm going back for sure.
Still waiting for a large enough sale (or some steam money for christmas) to pick this up. Really have been meaning to play this game for a while.

It's a bizarre game. I shouldn't like it, because as a game, it feels largely unsatisfying.
That may just be me, but from repeated playthroughs it feels deterministic; as though it doesn't really matter what choices you make or what checks you pass or fail, you still amble on regardless.
I've tried to play it in different ways, but the RPG element feels largely emergent - it is my inference of my character based on his actions and words rather than how he is perceived by others or how he impacts the world around him. Perhaps this is a commentary on the ultimate insignificance of the individual.And yet, it has burrowed its way into my subconscious like a spectre invading my soul.
It periodically crosses my mind and I feel an indescribable pang to play it again. The atmosphere is equal parts intriguing, amusing and depressing.
Despite the relatively disposable nature of the NPCs and the minimal amount of interaction you have with many of them, I see them as kindred spirits, or characters I am fond of.
The music often feels repetitive and dull, but it mirrors a lot of your actions as you retrace your steps or trudge through the depressive environment of Revachol.
Will is a shit voice actor. Felix, Matt & Virgil are all great.
The universe is rich and well thought out. It perfectly encapsulates the hauntology that accompanies the IRL decline of communism.Finally,

I'll be damned if I didn't shed a tear at the end, when you meet the stubborn communard, who, after chastising you for deluding yourself into thinking you could be a communist and policeman simultaneously, references 'an old war song about shooting rabbits'. It was a cathartic moment of realisation - that being a communist, you can never be truly alone. You are part of the great, interwoven tapestry of humanity that connects the past to the future.

Funny you think that he is the worst, I thought those characters were alright, because they sounded normal in universe. Titus was distracting because I recognized the voice, but he still sounded enough like the character that I could deal with it. I couldn't stand Felix as the scab leader because the voice didn't sound at all like what I thought a scab leader (or his day job) would sound like.
Early leak of PS4 is buggy and unplayable.
Sit back and relax. Maybe look towards getting it next summer, during sale season.

I've been waiting for this game to come out on a console (either Switch or PS4) forever so I don't have to play it on my shitty Macbook, but my resolve is waning.
