The overlap between Kremlin and Russian mob is a flat circle. Dissidents get jailed. LGBTQ rights get trampled. Corrupt oligarchy. Open political assassinations. Scientists getting suicided. Polonium poisoning. Invading Ukraine. Funding Erdogan's army against ethnic populations. Extending the Presidency to a virtual lifetime appointment. Etc.
But somehow any mention of Russia gets poo poo'd and dismissed.
It's amazing that the Trumps and Bidens and Giulianis and Manaforts, etc. get linked to backroom deals, and everyone wants to point out the corruption, but not the partner on the other end.
Russia bad.
Russia bad? Yes, just look at it. We should shit on it more I guess.
Russian bots behind rise of fascism? Lol no.
Now, all the libs with their calipers saying "the slavic craneum shows the clear characteristics of untrustwhorty people" probably makes a lot of people to don't want to dip their toes there, despite the clear signs of Putin being a shitbag.
Russian bots behind rise of fascism? Lol no.
I mean, they're not the most powerful force, but they've definitely got a finger on the scale. They share the same agenda as the GOP.
I really don't think any effort of any non-US country to influence the election had any real effect.
30% of the country is locked into Q Anon. If you think its origins are completely organic or that there's no appreciable long-term effects, I've got some beachfront property to sell you in the Florida Keys.
We've had cults and conspiracy groups long before Russia was Russia. And it mostly comes from the right wing as well. John Birch society for example. There absolutely can be home-grown, organic, Q-type stuff. It's happened before. The Know Nothing party is another example.
I mean, sure, tell it to these bigots marching for LGBTQ rights.
edit: Apologies for offending people. I imagined this image was one of protest, but I see why it's homophobic. Consider me wiser and I'll be sure to reference Pussy Riot in the future instead as a better source for Russia's anti-LGBTQ stance.
This is a pretty US centric take, they have a lot more power over the countries in their vicinity, and through that can affect the world politics (for example, they are one of the largest exporters of electricity and natural gas in the region, capable of shutting down electricity in some countries). US obviously has power over all of the Europe and most of the Asia just through their international influence, but this dismissive attitude towards Russia's power of affecting world politics outside of US can be harmful, just because US will be the last nation to see violent attacks or even open warfare from Russia doesn't diminish the actual risk and harm other countries experience. Even when Russian geopolitics are attacking the neoliberals of EU it still mostly harms the proletariat of those regions.
Solidarity must be international or it's just self-serving and the leftist project will be doomed to fail.

They won’t call a gay person a slur but they will do things like, use homosexuality as a way to make fun of Trump.
like the image in this post lol
Fuckin' A. Modern Russia is entirely a product of US meddling. So while the Russian state is certainly acting in bad faith, they only hold power because the US would rather see criminals running a country than socialists.
Yes, but we can always take the time to shit on Bolsonaro or Erdogan or idk, in order to learn new things.
And you had to use a homophobic image for this because?
Symbolically, I've understood it to be satire to key in on Putin's fiercely anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and policy. But I can see how it's homophobic. Thanks for the heads up.
russia absolutely doesn’t fund Turkey’s army, they are as close to ennemies as possible with too significant ties to go further, more so than even the US and China
More like our interests in Syria and Armenia run against turkey, but interests in Azerbaijan and selling weapons to them run for turkey, so meh overall. Plus tourism is a constant stick
Hmm. If only there was a president in the 90s who went all in on getting Yeltsin in charge and effectively destroying the USSR from inside with market reforms, revisionism, and succumbing to capitalist imperialism. Maybe that president would have helped lead the way to eventually Putin seizing power since during all that time he just collected money/power like every other monster and oligarch does when there is money to be made.
It’s amazing that the Trumps and Bidens and Giulianis and Manaforts, etc. get linked to backroom deals, and everyone wants to point out the corruption, but not the partner on the other end.
Well those first four people are Americans and we can structure our society so that those people don't have any political power in which to make those deals. It's a bit harder for us to structure global society so that Russia doesn't have any power to make deals. It would require going against our values as leftists. About the best thing we could do is promote the end of capitalism so oligarchs lose their heads and Russians can determine their own foreign policy.
Invading Ukraine.
This is fully justified.
Russia may be bad, but it's helping to build an alternative to the US-led global order. The US is pushing Russia, China, the DPRK, Iran, Venezuela, and its other official enemies together, and they are building an international trade system that bypasses US sanctions.
justified? it's justified to to invade your neighbors and kill thousands of people because your rival got influence on them? maybe shoot down an international passenger flight while you're at it!
Yes, if the places you "invaded" are overwhelmingly populated by members of your country's ethno-linguistic group who want absolutely no part of the literally fascist ideology and rhetoric that the central government is propagating against them, at times literally burning them alive in the mad desire to drive out your supposed influence.
oh i'm sure it was very altruistic and on behalf of totally organic separatists who were so anti-fascist they wanted to join the Russian federation (a very antifascist state)
They want to join the Russian federation because they're fucking Russians.
so we agree the fascism has nothing to do with it then
we are left with the fact you think murdering thousands of people on their behalf is cool though
so we agree the fascism has nothing to do with it then
Well, when the central government is on an ideological project to rehabilitate Nazi collaborators and turn them into national heroes who valiantly tried to liberate Ukraine from the tyranny of Russian domination and their Judeo-Bolshevik puppet masters, I'd say Fascism has a lot to do with it. When the government is trying to smother a language that a large percentage of the population speaks, and demonizes a country that a large percentage of the population identifies with, I'd say Fascism has a lot to do with it.
Nothing Ukraine did justifies an invasion. Fucking regional-national language status is not something you get to kill people over.
The most egregious Ukrainian nationalism came after Russia got involved, which should be expected and not retroactively used as justification
Russia didn’t “get involved,”
see invasion, also "their guy" or whatever-not really; but they are protecting him from justice-Yanukovych killed hundred+ people at Euromaidan, which did have right wing elements--it could even have been fully right wing--massacre-ing protestors is not cash money dude
especially egregious when it’s Ukraine
if you wanna talk 1000 years there's plenty of grievances the Ukrainians get to bring up too. That's nationalism, nobody wins.
So what? I should be more racist? I should retweet more American spies? Maybe its good to know just by virtue of knowing things being good, but what does repeating this really suggest we do besides just be uglier and more deferrential to the actual great satan
Did someone just delete it? Do you mind resurfacing it? I'll copy and paste the content but use a different image.
Russian leaders bad. Most of the top people in that country are the people who directly benefitted from the privatization of Soviet industry, their rise to power is perhaps the most obvious line you can draw between getting rich and causing massive human suffering in the modern world. They turned a diverse, industrialized economy with some problems into one based almost solely on oil extraction. Plus all the other shit you pointed out. Fuck Russia.
