Well, the mRNA vaccine will do this. I am looking at the vaccination plan for my state rn and they have a page here talking about the 4 different types of vaccines that are going to be distributed. So like 1/4 of the people getting a vaccine will get that broad protection (at least here in Illinois, and obviously this isn't based on hard math or anything)
The plan I'm looking at was published on 01/10/21 and it says:
"Vaccine-administration planning must reflect the four types of vaccines being manufactured:

protein adjuvant

live attenuated"
My understanding is there are relaxed storage requirements on the other vaccines, so I would be willing to bet my kidneys that you will largely see the non-mRNA vaccines being distributed in larger quantities to places like clinics and retail pharmacies (where most of the people here will be getting the vaccine) that only have standard refrigerated storage.

Ugh guys there isn't anything deeper to read here. A lot of epidemiologists have assumed that coronavirus will simply be like the flu. It won't ever be eradicated and will continue to evolve and change and exist as a seasonal thing. Over the long term it will likely become less lethal. Also, it means that everyone should be prepared to take covid shots along with flu shots every year (please get your vaccines, guys).
Here where i live noone is getting the flu shots because they cost money, and it's going to be the same with covid. If a test right now costs 150€ around here, i don't have much hope for a cheap vaccine.
depends on where and the insurance system. In france it's almost free to get tested, like 10-15 euros i hear. In the Netherlands and Germany it's 150 eur if you want to travel, if else up to the insurer to cover it or not depending on whether you have reasonable suspicion of being infected.
Mexico. We're the lowest in terms of tests performed in any country of the OECD, at 3 tests per 100,000 inhabitants. You can get a free test in several states, including Mexico City, but this has not been a continuous program, and most of these have been quick tests, not PCR. In the private sector, tests can vary in price from 50 to 350 dollars.
As someone whose gone without any form of healthcare for the last 10 years, I feel you. I was obviously aiming that towards those who had the ability to do so.

I'm an introvert and I still find it depressing. But there are reasons for hope: 1) vaccines and quarantines do work, 2) society and individuals adjust to adversity - the new normal will eventually feel like the old and more stuff will be made safer, 3) common adversity builds revolutionary potential :match: - the "Hungry 40s" brought about the revolutions of 1848.

The second part is pretty brain dead. We were listed as the least vulnerable country to a pandemic in 2019, with China being on the bottom half.
The virus is here forever though, not sure if there was any getting around that after it got so bad in Italy.
