Bruh lmfao do these people even read what they wrote?

“China has the world’s largest population and they overwhelmingly support their one party... it’s almost like that one party is working for them and that’s why... I think the secret to China’s tyranny is that they were poor and had the world’s largest population in poverty. China then lifted these people out of poverty and believe it or not, the people liked that! I wonder if people who lived in the Soviet Union were also happy to be lifted out of poverty? Anyway this is a success story of tyranny and not socialism.”

It may come as an absolute shock that this is from a post about Tiananmen Square but here’s a link to the comment lol have fun

Every single time I get a chance to use this fact on libs, they invariably say something like "That's because we have more freedom. It's easier to break the law when you can mostly do what you want"

And no, they do not notice the contradiction.

More adults under corrective supervision - either incarcerated, on parole, or on probation - than the Soviet Union at the peak of the Great Purges/GULAG system. All the same issues as well - gangs, corrupt guards, political prisoners, lack of due process.

China is already more democratic than the US because the CCP ensures that local elections are competitive and have more candidates than seats. How many US local and state elections can say the same? Hell, in large parts of the country, you don't even get a say in the nationa level elections (representative, senator, or President), which is what is supposed to be the pinacle of our freedom

California, the liberal bastion of democracy, just got it's senator appointed. Pretty fucking hilarious that people here deride the south for backwards voting laws (rightfully so a lot of times), but at least Georgia got an election to fill the empty senate seat for the guy who died.

They also have a much higher percentage of independents in their legislature. Same with the DPRK.

China is not immune from needing the consent of the governed and with 1.4B people, that takes a lot of consent.

No, no, no. John Locke's entire theory of Consent of the Governed only applies to the Noble Untainted Minds of the Western European White Male.

The Mongol Hordes are just sheep. Sheep I tell you!

No roads, no trains, no infrastructure. Just a slow decline.

I wouldn't go that far. China's an economy operating on overdrive. But the United States is still chugging along. We're an inefficient, clumsy, and messy as hell, but we're still building. We're still advancing the technological football. We're not moving anywhere near the pace of our eastern peers. But we're still moving.

Oh yeah. It's amazing how we keep having these unemployment crises and infrastructure crises one on top of the other.

You'd think this could fix itself, somehow.

I love how Europeans/Americans are so miserable that the concept of someone praising their government is some sort of OP.

"Life is unfair for me so why should it be fair for you?"

In the land of freedom we voted for HSR in California 13 years ago. Should be finished in 2033. During those 13 years the land of tyranny built 15 thousand miles of dedicated HSR lines. Would I trade my right to vote for a national HSR system in less than 10 years? Not a fucking chance

Edit: lol I just looked at the CHSRA website and their touting finishing a supplemental environmental impact report on a section of line between Fresno and Merced, jfc embarrassing

Is there even really an environment to impact between Fresno and Merced. I figure they had lowered the water table and depleted the soil so much that nothing's going to grow there even if you try.

Remove "of tyranny" and it's almost emphatic, unvarnished praise. The second paragraph is desperately trying to describe their successes as an insidious conspiracy though.

I mean a rational person can’t deny the actual success but to claim it has been a success forces an indoctrinated person to question their worldview
