I wouldn't want the jokes to wear thin. There are lots of white but not really white groups like Quebecois and the Welsh who could take the heat for a while to give the Italians time to cool off.

I, personally, am extremely anti-English. They invented racism, so I think it's fair they receive some of it.

tbh it kinda sucks that whenever i get in a voicechat and i say im italian (not even italo american, who are not people like you and me) someone makes some shitty stale joke and will make fun of my accent

What if you just didn't make fun of how people talk? Its actually pretty rude overall.

I get the comparison of racism against white groups, but as an ongoing joke it loses contexts and what started as semi-tasteless first year college freeze peach proto wokeism turns slyly into actual just plain old racism.

Italians are comrades, Welsh are comrades, quebeckers are comrades. Find another joke maybe.

I kind of agree, but I also find it funny that the way Italians speaking English are usually mocked is completely different from the actual accent most Italians have when speaking English.

On one hand I'm an oversensitive little baby man so they mildly hurt my feelings, but on the other hand all the other Mozzarella-Americans I know keep acting like it's still 1891 and they're discriminated against but also simultaneously racism doesn't exist anymore, so I can't really blame anyone for making the jokes

Counterpoint - why should any group have to "put up" with being made fun of in a left-wing forum?

we need to start letting australlians in so we can make fun of them more. their only good cultural contribution has been the punchline of string ray jokes.
