$2000* immediately**
* an extra $1400*** on top of the $600 you got a month ago
** by March or April
*** unless you made more than $50k the year before the pandemic, then it's less
I'm now fully convinced they are trying to lose 2022.
Dave Anthony had a pretty good rant in this week's episode of The West Wing Thing detailing exactly why this is the very reason people despise the Democrats more viscerally than GOP psychopaths
Basically:
- Lavish promises on the campaign trail
** Immediately water down said promises when they win
*** Condescend and lie to people who complain about breaking promises as if they are the stupid ones
**** Adopt conservative "reform" plan
***** "Negotiate" "reform" with the Republicans
****** Pass the "compromise"
******* Get owned in the midterms
Love how I'm means tested based off what I made before the pandemic and economic collapse.
2021: How about means testing, but your means are hypothetical?
Ngl I spent all the money I should have saved on Hennessey, avacados and netflix.
Mark my words. Middle class suburbanites will be calling for the end of pandemic assistance as soon as the democrat start excluding above $50k tax bracket. Your going to have the thousands of psychotic Karens and Richards posting about how the democrats are bankrupting our future. We are going back to 2012 baby.
Edit: Also, the democrats have enough votes to pass relief wtf
Why wouldn't they though? If you're excluding people, those people are rightfully going to be pissed. 100k is a lot of money, but it's not unlimited. And if this is stimulus spending, giving it to more people will stimulate more of the market.
Democrats are, without a doubt, the fucking worst.
I have yet to see a single lib have an answer to this other than agreement or changing the subject.
Yeah because the only thing your argument is missing is a QED at the end
The Democrats hate being in power. They're already wishing they'd lost the election.
Remember who those suburbs swung for Biden? I’m sure a lot of them made more than $50k in 2019 but not now.... hmmm... plus everyone wants a check, so this is really microtargeting their swing voters to piss them off.
Good work all around here dems
Amazing how all these intricate, means-tested solutions never seem to take into account cost of living
Ah well, it's not like the Democratic base tends to live in high cost-of-living areas
someone post the copmala "pell grant recipient who establishes a business in a low income district" thing
How does this make any sense, I mean... what if somebody who made next to nothing in 2019 because they vacationed all year has been working at their $275K/yr job the past year straight?
Means testing on >1/yr old income is beyond dumb.
And the 50k cutoff isn't even that high in a lot of areas. Like I've seen dudes in manufacturing jobs making more than that and living in shit apartments because of cost of living.
its true, i just have a lot of trouble manufacturing sympathy for the causes of all this bullshit. like, yes, bring them with, but they're going to ask to be put in first class and shit, and oh my fuck can we punch them when they say that?
sorry im not even remotely sober right now. if I make little sense I blame exotic chemistry.
Stressing here: more peepee and poopoo
I fucking hate these journalists. Call it what it is you coward. Fuck you Jeff Stein.
I got a new job where I make just above $50k in an east coast city, so fuck me, right?
They will probably end up getting away with it. Median income is 40k and even in places like NYC it's 50k, idk why but people always severely overestimate it online. Vast majority of the dem base would still get the full check so not much political cost.
Talks fluid, conversations are ongoing
Oh cool so they aren't done making the cheques smaller and making fewer people eligible
