Don't ever question or care if you broke the law when you know you did the right thing.
Don't dox yourself, be careful, stay safe. You now have an amazing bar story, use it well.
You did the right thing.
It sucks that we live in a world where doing the right thing is often punished (probably why the woman didn't want the police involved, she's afraid of what might happen/ has been gaslighted by the sound of it).
You tried to protect someone, never question if you did the right thing, he could have killed her, for all you know you could have saved her life.
You did what you could and whatever happens as a consequence (if anything) is absolutely not your fault.
Defence of Another is a legal defence pretty much everywhere, and no one’s about to bring charges on a dude waving around a weeablade to break up a domestic.
I wouldn’t worry too much about the DV guy. If he’s headlocking women in public, it’s probably not the first time he’s been yelled at by a stranger. Besides, you have a sword. Who tf picks a fight with a sword guy.
If questioned, you follow these very simple steps:
- You
- Shut
- The
- Fuck
- Up
The only time you should be talking to police is if the victim has explicitly asked you to, for the purposes of building a case against the abuser. And even then, maybe not.
That shit sucks all around, hopefully everyone is drunk enough to forget what happened by tomorrow
The comedown is a real fucking thing. If I could I'd give you a hug and give you a mug of tea. The comedown fucking sucks. The comedown also confirms that you aren't a fucking psychopath that gets high on this kind of shit. It's unpleasant but it proves you've got a heart.
But good on you for getting involved. People need to know they can't get away with that shit. Life isn't in a vacuum. Somebody needs to say or do something, and we all know we can't rely on the cops.
You did the right thing! You also did a very dangerous thing. Decorative swords are decorative for a reason, some of them will break just from swinging them around, others - on first impact. It's good that you didn't have to test this out, but do your self a favour and get a bat or something
If you want to stick with a sword get a HEMA trainer or a reenactment sword. 30 lbs of pressure compared to the amount of pressure it gets during a hit is absolutely nothing.
Go to walmart and get a matchete. You can do yard work with it and you know it will serve.
Also, what sword was it? Judt a regular weeb ass katana? Or like, the sword from legend of zelda?
