I know Tlaib isn't perfect but she's often the only voice anywhere in the US government that's even remotely rational and I appreciate that about her.
her and cori bush are the only two people i could say i respect in the federal government
Wondering how quickly Congress will pass a resolution condemning her for this.
Meanwhile AOC falling all over herself to say she wishes she could go back in time and change her vote to give Israel money for the Iron Dome.
I was going to say, "Cortez" already has some association with the colonial butchering of indigenous people
jfc don't look at the responses if you value your sanity
Any nation indiscriminately bombing random American suburban neighborhoods is justified because Americans have more personal guns than anybody
liberate me from this mortal coil i hate myself and everyone around me (except like 3 ppl but they don't matter as much as the rest of the oppressed world tbh)
Said in an earlier comment that, despite my opinions of Americans at an all time low, it feels so fucking astroturfed.
I'm looking forward, in an absolutely horrific way, to libs being like "Yes Joe Biden is allowing literal genocide but you still need to vote for him because a damn CHEETO."
Americans can finally have some student debt cancellation if you allow some Palestinians to be genocided, deal?
Yes! We got one folks!
Literally defending genocide because "Vote Blue No Matter Who." You are so much closer to voting for DeSantis than I ever will be. You already vote for a guy, Biden, who supports just about 70% of his policies.
But the whole genociding the Palestinians isn’t important to you, clearly.
The fact that Joe was either completely hand-held into his absolutely frothingly (Apple thinks this isn't a word- fuck you) insane statements after Hasmas' actions or legitimately is just that insane, it doesn't really matter at this point. Those statements, even in a hypothetical world where Israel didn't immediately blow up thousands of civilians (and still shows no sign of stopping or slowing), should cause the immediate reaction of disqualification from his party. At the absolute fucking least.
He did a Bush/Cheney circa 2003. Literally listen to ol' Rummy (rot in piss) or Rice or, well, Cheney himself and they're all talking like Biden did the other week. Everybody seems to give the default acknowledgment now that "Iraq was a mistake" (they don't actually believe it, but they do say it) and yet they're sitting here while Israel is engaging in its own Iraq and somehow lying to continue it in even more stupid and obvious ways that Rumsfeld and Powell did. It's a complete clownshow over there, and that's saying something compared to the Bush admin.
Now I know the chances of even opportunistic dems or republicans actually fully condemning Biden and demanding he not run for reelection in light of SUPPORTING A GENOCIDE is nearly zero, but, it's still... "important"... or something to at least have people like Tlaib out there condemning Israel's actions and also condemning the words and actions of Israel's number one fan, best bud, backer, the one who allows Israel to do Israel shit... the US.
There's going to be many "reasons" in coming decades for the US to send aid or, holy fuck hopefully not, actual troops. It's all part of the declining American empire that people like 900 year old Joe thinks can still fight China and the USSR which he thinks is still around. It can't, and that's a good thing for anyone who is on the side of anti-imperialism. And all we can do is put constant pressure on our shithole genocidal government to not send aid, or troops, or even speak words of support for our equally genocide-loving allies like Israel, basically the entire EU, etc. This is easy for now... just wait until people like Joe actually realize it's all over and it doesn't matter how much they kick and scream. Might not be long before an Israeli PM is on TV saying he supports bombing entire cities in the US for being traitors, who knows.
actual troops
The supremely naive part of me hopes we send troops because Israel is unfortunately a cutout of Europe circa 1930's and our soldiers, as bad as they are, would still be having to gun down Palestinians who are also Christian like themselves, sending back stories about just how awful Israel really is.....but what am I saying? Our troops would do it anyway, and even conscientious (wow, I spelt that right the first time) objectors would still do their jobs and still send back the stories, but literally nothing would change; we'd only hear 20 years from now about how maybe supporting Israel during that specific incident had been a mistake.
You'd get movies 10 years down the line about how Private Dick was very sad when came the time to gun down children
Yeah the idea that soldiers wouldn't do as ordered isn't even worth entertaining, no offense or whatever (you already agree with me anyway based on what you typed after). That pretty much goes for all soldiers.
Not trying to be cynical or whatever, but militaries are generally composed of young, mostly men, and ones who had at least some notion of nationalism enough to agree to join, especially, obviously, in non-conscription militaries like the US. So, my point is, you give basically any nationalistic minded young man a gun or put in charge of some sort of murder machine and tell them "that's the bad guy. Go do the thing." And they see there have been effectively no consequences for decades for others just wantonly murdering... it's a recipe for "yeah, they're gonna murder."
That's why it's important to do whatever we can to keep the ghouls in the media and in Washington from ever putting them in the position to do the murdering. And also keep weapons from going over there. Obviously we have limited, nearly zero, say in the process, but I think people are kind of slowly moving towards "stop killing people" since it's all sort of out in the open now days.
Joe is going to die of old age in like three weeks, he does not give a fuck if people "remember where he stood." He doesn't even know where he is currently standing
Joe is going to die of old age in like three weeks
one would hope
Hexbear has the best emotes, but also too many of them to remember
You have to channel the spirit of hexbear to manifest the name of the emote when you need it
:yeonmi-park: In communist Hexbear, the evil admins force you to have two thousand emotes, and if you resist, you are condemned to eat pig poop balls
You at least have the emoji picker if you feel like browsing through them all to see what you have to work with, and just pick your favorites to use
I was going to make a quip like "but still vote for him though" but apparently she hasn't endorsed him like other squad members. Or at least I can't find anything about it.
Is it me or do the number of pro-Israel comments and “um aktully Israel said it was a Hamas rocket 🤓” community note feel off? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t doubt Americans are still propagandized to hell and back, but it feels so artificial when most people’s first response is going to be reeling in shock over this before meekly accepting whatever state department line (or, at best, opposing Israel in a limpwristed lib way), not dying on a hill from the onset.
If I had to guess, I’d say pro-Israel propaganda mills and social media organizers are working overtime, directly against individuals they assume will reach the most people (ie, elected officials like Tlaib).
Compare the response to this with the recent Ukrainian missile hitting a market.
The latter, people defended Ukraine saying it never would’ve happened had Russia not invaded, therefore Russia is still responsible.
I support this line of thinking, to an extent. I highly doubt Ukrainians wanted to blow up their own citizens. And if it’s true that Hamas hit the hospital, I highly doubt they wanted to blow up their own people.
But liberals will not extend this logic to Palestine. Or anyone who isn’t aligned with western interests. It’s depressing really.
I highly doubt Ukrainians wanted to blow up their own citizens.
non-russian speaking citizens, maybe
