What part of "the wealthy will not allow you vote away their wealth" do leftists in this day and age not understand?

Stuff like this still has the potential to get them to show their ass, but yeah. You've got to have a plan to agitate on that and take it to the next level because if you put all your eggs in that basket you're fucked.

Edit: As much as we joke about it, the Democratic Party isn't going to destroy itself. Its likely going to need a shove.

It seems leftist (okay, probably socdem, but lets be generous here) have been organizing for a long time at the local level. And while this seems bad, it did destroy the Democratic establishment. They purged themselves from their own party, and now the leftists have control.

I'm not ready to chalk it up as a win yet. The rats are fleeing the ship, but they will regroup and they will retaliate. They are going to coordinate with their corporate allies, maybe even with the GOP, and wage a media campaign to sabotage the new leadership and try to get their hands back on power at the soonest opportunity.

I think they may try to run against progressives next time, in primaries and leadership elections, but if DSA won this time, they can probably do it again.

Personally, don't think they'll join Republicans. I find it more likely these ghouls start working for the Democrats in another state or the national level.

Maybe we'll see the progressives ground down by electoral competition with the GOP, trying to win over moderates until they're just centrists again.

Yeah I guess it depends on what their connections are. Party loyalists like the employees mentioned in this article may very well just take up work in other states or for primary challengers, but local industry and commerce is tied down geographically and they will plow their resources towards whoever has the best shot at increasing their bottom line. The PACs will pivot at the drop of a hat if anyone threatens to limit their influence.

The corruption is complete. Establishment dems on @nvdems drained financial accounts, quit on the spot and may have sabotaged efforts to move forward.

We are just beginning to understand what happened. It's not great, but this is what we must do to move ahead.

if the fucking DSA actually does good by their people i'll eat every fucking word i said about electoralism just being entirely a crapshoot, and reserve my opinion for national electoralism in the united states. i'm even rooting for them. i'd still put all my money in on 00 before i'd expect to change shit through voting though.

Electoralism can do some good, like establishing socialist politics in the public imagination and build working class organisations. It can't bring about socialism on its own but it can do some of the educational and organisational work we need.

If the shit libs abandoned ship, doesn't that open lots of spots to put in staff more in line with the Dem Socs progressive picks? Could this be a bit of a win for those progressive folks?

    scratches head

I guess with the consultants gone, the rolo-dexes of cash cows go with them but maybe they'll be forced to go do more local work to get votes instead of relying on money bombs in media.

They took a bunch of money out of NV dems to try and undermine the new people coming in. They may also attempt to regroup and organise again outside of the party. This is putting DSA people on the backfoot and attempting to force them to start from scratch.

This is in line with the kind of wrecking that happened under Labour with Corbyn.

If anything it'll at least be good for agitation, especially as in the US you might actually get reporting on it (like this piece), compared to just "everything is Corbyn's fault" here in the UK.

/r/politics thread has a shitton of comments already, very hard to pretend this is just normal or to sincerely pretend this is somehow DSA/progressives fault, though a few are trying their best lmao.

This is in line with the kind of wrecking that happened under Labour with Corbyn.

It seems like it's the complete opposite to me. Corbyn was destroyed by the apparatus of the party which remained hostile to him, and used their position to sabotage his leadership. For example: they deliberatly mismanaged anti-semitism complaints so he'd look bad and they deliberatly funelled money away from swing seats to safe seats during the 2017 election - an election where Labour could've won if 2227 more people voted for them.
