If you're sad about it beyond just a "reminder of how bad things are," then that means one or both of two things.

  1. You must have harbored some kind of small belief that US electoralism could facilitate anyone other than a ghoul at the level of the presidency. Even if you think electoralism is good and cool, this isn't even electoralism. This is a VP pick. No mass movement is going to decide that. Biden (or more accurately whatever ghouls around him) decide that. This brings us to 2.

  2. You must have harbored some notion that Biden could be swayed into adopting your positions. This one is vastly more stupid that #1. Stop believing in these people or that pressure works on them. Biden is bad, he will always be bad.

Keep your eyes on the fucking prize. Both the doomer shit and the weird "this is reminding me how bad things are..." shit aren't helpful. We knew this was happening. Did we all just forget Biden is bad? Like come the fuck on.

Yeah, Biden's a capitalist ghoul who benefits capitalists and was selected by capitalists. He's not for you. Whoever he picks would never be for you. Don't delude yourself. The fight is as much with him as it is with all the other capitalist ghouls.

Tl;dr: stop trying to pressure these people to be what you want them to be and actively fight them.

It's definitely up there with the most amusing outcomes given BLM and all.

Anyone who still thinks they can make the Democratic party get on Bernie's platform and page is delusional. Anyone who still thinks they can get it to anything left of Bernie is even more delusional. Anyone who thinks any "compromises" or "bold pledges" that come out of Biden's mouth are worth anything more than a piece of rat shit found in a gutter are delusional.

Entryism into the Democratic party has been foiled for a century now. They will defeat you each time, a handful of house seats are not going to change that and will only serve to constrain the positions your candidates can take out of fear of the party.

Even if you are a soc-dem your best way to get results is not voting Democratic, it is helping build an insurgent communist party that gets enough votes and power that it scares the Democrats into compromising down to your positions.

No matter how often I'm confronted with their rabid sociopathy I am never able to internalize that they can desire these outcomes and have such a will to see them through

I'm probably going to sound really dumb here but who said this? Matt? It's got big Matt vibes. It's very relateable.

I’m just saying, this current season of US politics has been both aggravating as hell and beyond entertaining from an outside perspective.

Biden picking Kamala is the ultimate neolib meme and I am all for the shitshow that is going to follow this as a result.

It’s ok to feel sad or angry because it still has a material effect on our lives, regardless of whether you are attached to the system or not, regardless of whether you’re fighting or not.

Right but the point is that this material effect was always going to be bad. If you were feeling like it was maybe going to be good and then he picked his VP and now you're angry then you had to have fostered some kind of hope that he could possibly have picked anyone else.

Biden is shit and anyone he picks would necessarily be bad. It's not unexpected, basically.

It's not unexpected, but that doesn't mean that it actually happening is no different from anticipating it.

Like, I probably do have a bit of inner lib to combat here. But still, I don't think this impulse is entirely based on that. Psychologically, there is a real difference between knowing all the possible options are bad and having them actually pick a bad option.

They picked the worst possible option that was still viable. Klobuchar or Rice (or any of the other Centrist Voltron candidates) would have been bad, sure, but picking Harris amidst nationwide BLM protests is just rubbing salt in the wound at this point. We're being gaslit.

What is there to be disappointed in? Who else would he pick? Someone else who would be exactly who Kamala Harris would be in the administration? Like I don't understand, did we think he was going to throw the left a bone with a demsoc or something? That's what I mean by "irrelevant." This is exactly the only type of pick he could have ever made. Someone who was tough on crime and another capitalist ghoul, because THAT'S WHO BIDEN IS, and more importantly WHAT CAPITAL WANTS.

No Voltron, no Ninja Turtles, no Trans former, basically no. We don't do any mechas here in the communist zone, just get over it. Any orgams you might have thought you had were false, so what I am saying is

The only AmeriKKKan movie I ever watched was Platoon, because it showed the crimes committed on the brave Vietnamese people by the filthy murderers and rapists of the US military.

Have fun about it because it's funny instead of getting angry about it as if there was an alternative where Biden doesn't pick a ghoul.

What if you are already angry, but this reminds you why you hate electoralism, the only thing people around you will talk about?

i think that fits into the "irrelevant" category, not irrelevant that you're angry, but angry because it's irrelevant. He'd always pick someone garbage because electoralism is a fuck

      but yeah fair
