China is a big and important market for Elon. Meanwhile, he knows that piggies in the US will buy any shit he promotes on Twitter no matter what.
A bunch of teslas got recalled in China, for some problem that's probably unique to tesla (I'm assuming the ashtray beheads all passengers if used). He probably doesn't want the ccp digging too deeply into their cars and thinks that this will somehow help that.
People really misunderstand Musk. He doesn't think of himself as a capitalist. He imagines (extremely wrongly) that he's somehow contributing to socialism in a very vague sense, and he likes the concept in principle (notwithstanding the fact that he doesn't understand and if the principles).
A lot of billionaires in the past couple centuries have fallen into the "utopian socialist" bracket. The type that fetishises the idea of a noble leader presiding over a prosperous kingdom. They see socialism as a return to some idyllic feudal society where they serve as benevolent benefactor of the starving workers who worship them for their generosity.
Sometimes they break out of that and become actually radical (see most of the first waves of communist leaders and thinkers), but a lot of the times their vision of socialism is so far removed from materialism that it's actually just psychotic feudalism.
I'm guessing in reality a bunch of his fans are gonna go from "China bad because communism bad" to "China is actually state capitalism, that's why it's good."
which is what they did to the US did in the 70s-80s leading to one of the most legendary bait and switches of all time
I mean fine, If they support our transition to full FLAGSC as long as we call our decentralised Gosplan network Space Capitalism or something, I'll deal.
Yeah, into highly nationalist "socialists" who think the nazbols are dope. Watch Marx turn once again into the "national-German Marx" who helped organize the unions that are so well prepared for waging imperial war. Turning to socialism solely because you like how rich and powerful it made a country is probably the worst way to do it outside of the whole "socialism, but just for white people" schtick.
:melon-musk: :xi-gun: :xi-reactionary-spotted: :xinternet: In all seriousness, Elon probably wants something from them and it's one of the few countries in the world that he can't just bully into submission or get help from the us government
It will never cease to amuse me when billionaires bend the knee.
I wouldn't be surprised if there's a nugget of honesty to the statement. The propaganda is really the only thing stopping Shenzen from being to modern nerds what Tokyo was in the 80s.
big fax. kind of weird how there is NO buzz WHATSOEVER from tech losers. like, to me that is a dire sign
Shenzhen is already a kinda mecca for tech losers. Could it be that pretty lights and festivals don't generate as much buzz for that crowd?
I was scheduled to visit Shenzhen last year largely because it looks cool as hell
Oh jeez this is gonna cause some China hating, Musk lovin redditors brains to implode
Redditor: "Yah know come to thing of it, Uyghurs are Muslims and I just remembered I hate those, so maybe Daddy Elon is right to work there."
it'll be interesting to see how they resolve the cognitive dissonance. will we see a bunch of new China stans because Daddy Musk said China good, or will we see a bunch of new Musk haters?
This is rich coming from the guy who has seemingly made his life goal to put the final nail the coffin of American public transit
He's right though. When you're right, you're right. If this gets his cultists and the dupes in the west to rethink their position on the country, I'm all for it.
Trying to reverse the Tesla recall in China now, Elon? (Or more realisticly trying to make sure he can still peddle his crap cars in China.)
wow yet another yoko taking a Lennon. Sad reacts only. :sadness-abysmal:
