Reddit is awesome because literally everyone there hates their jobs, pointless consumption and consumerism, and "adulting". They love pointing out how difficult it is to get by in modern times and how relatively easy the boomers had it. 100% consensus.

Seems to me that the fash attack consumerism largely on misogynistic ("Kardashians are BAD") lines or trying to tap into feelings of superiority (i.e. criticizing Marvel movies or Funko pops as things that appeal to "unthinking masses"). As opposed to a socialist critique which is more about contributing to an evil system, while also recognizing individual action is insignificant next to systematic change.

When I’m feeling doomer I kind of rationalise and try to “hope” for a future where leftists can rebuild a better society in the ashes of this one after climate catastrophe. And with the current hegemonic power seemingly teetering on its last legs, maybe those ashes will come soon enough that we can even avoid the most catastrophic scenarios, even if things are fucked, and this planet will still be habitable for humanity and animals

It doesn't make me ill, but it does absolutely nothing whatsoever for me no matter how many times or how many different ways I give it a go. Meditation, prayer, and all the other stuff where you're supposed to sit still and get something out of it just seemed like autosuggestion to me. I've had enough hallucinogens to know when my brain is off doing its own thing and that's all I've ever gotten out of any of it. Whether it's your Third Eye or some shade arbor revival where you catch the spirit and speak in tongues, all of it seems like fakir's business to me.
