I don't know how many times these people need to be told that more Bernie voters ended up voting for Hillary than Hillary voters voted for Obama in 08

Luckily, this (and Bernie campaigning for Hillary in 2016) pretty much ends this conversation for all but a few weirdo holdouts. It never really caught on during the 2020 primary, which is when it would have mattered.

and Bernie campaigning for Hillary in 2016

Every time I've mentioned this, I've gotten the exact same reply: he was pretending to campaign for Hillary just to sell his book and earn money

Classic. It’s an unwinnable position, it’s entrenched in their identity as victims. Believing differently would shatter their reality.

Tangentially related: I’ve never sat down to do the research, but I remember for at least a period Bernie was out-campaigning Hillary on her behalf. Specifically, I remember Hillary disappeared in August (aside from private events with wealthy donors), which is when the Parkinson’s rumours really took hold amongst chuds and Jimmy Dore. Of course, it was probably her lingering pneumonia that led to the beautiful moment of I FEEL GREAT on September the 11th.

I know Enough Sanders Spam on Reddit has a post on their sidebar "debunking" this stat, they claim it only comes from one survey/poll and that they have data proving otherwise.

I'd say a subreddit railing against Sanders late in 2021 qualifies as a "weirdo holdout." It didn't land with most people, as evidenced by him leading the primary until the coordinated drop out/endorsement of Biden.

They're libs. To them McCain was a respectable gentleman war hero who they just had Differences of Opinion™ with, and Trump was a rude buffoon who embarrassed the US with his ignorance and explicit racism. So voting for McCain is OK but not voting against Trump is not.

They really think the Republican party suddenly turned bad in 2016 because of Trump and Russia.

I don't know who told you otherwise, but facts do not matter to people like this unless they can be used for their benefit.

But they still aren't getting anything done, and everyone can see the GOP retaking everything in the next two elections, so it still must be Bernie's fault, or else they'd have to conclude the biggest voter turnout in American history wasn't enough to save their precious system.

Why are they still whining about this? They won. They won with finality. There's not going to be another Bernie-like figure in presidential politics before the empire fully collapses in on itself.

They don't even realize they're being like Trump - of all people - after he whined and whined and whined year after year about not winning by enough in 2016.

Does this person think that the only way regular people can deal with climate change is by voting every four years?

Bernie Sanders made less on his book deals than someone his age should have saved up for retirement already.
