Remember the rules; in particular, this comm is for vegans only. Feel free to discuss anything from beans :bean: to your undying and eternal hatred for carnists. :frog-no-pretext:
:vegan-edge: Veganism isn't a diet, it's about animal liberation.
Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose

I'm reporting back on the experiment with "huel". I tried the food one (as opposed to the drink one.)
Taste is pretty good, surprisingly. Overall, seems like a good concept and I'll probably buy it again at some point. Biggest downside is texture. Everything is dehydrated, and when you rehydrate it, you get weird crunchy bits, like if you undercook rice. I'm still trying to figure out how to prepare it so that doesn't happen, if possible. But, it is pretty filling, and seems to yield good energy and good poops. So a net positive despite the texture issue.
Nice! Someone I knew considered but never tried, so it's good to hear that it's actually not that bad

Go ahead and try to turn an animal into food
:im-vegan:
Today I learned the word Vegaphobia. I have no idea how common the use of that word is but that's not what shocked me; I quote:
"In the media, in pop culture and even in progressive, enlightened polite society it is still widely acceptable to make fun of vegans", writes Farhad Manjoo in a 2019 New York Times opinion piece against mocking vegans. Manjoo cites findings from a 2015 study by Canadian psychologists, that the general population rates vegans more negatively than atheists and immigrants, and tolerates vegans only slightly better than drug addicts. Vegans get more negative ratings than vegetarians, and vegan men receive more negative ratings than women. Vegans are rated better if they're motivated by health reasons than if their veganism is driven by ethical or animal rights concerns.
Yea :yea:
I just want to say navy beans are good. I mean, all beans are, but I just had some good ones so they come to mind right now :cool-bean:
Love my family and I hope that I'm making them realizing that veganism is cool and good. Question brought up twice on the issue of eating non fertilized :chicken-bop: eggs and I brought up animal exploitation :vegan-liberation-rad:. That how under capitalism their idea of chickens being taken care of in exchange for eggs is just a fantasy. They live in horrible conditions and when can no longer be exploited are slaughtered for their bodies. Told them I can't support that and the uncomfortableness seems something hard for them to ignore.
Guess that through these conversations more and more my solidarity with animals builds :vegan-liberation: under capitalism our worth is dictated solely on what and how much we produce and when we are no longer able to we're killed through neglect or negligence :kitty-cri-texas: feels bad.
I wish there was a series of mods for video games that would remove all types of animal exploitation and references thereto. That would make video games much more :comfy: for me
Need some Fs going, woke up to make some 3 am :tofu-cool: scramble only to realize I've no :vegan-tofu:. feels bad :sadness:
Spaghetti marinara has been my go-to meal ever since I went vegan. I eat that shit like 3-4 times a week.
