I don't think he's as bad as people act like on the Internet. He's a religious nutjob, yes, but he's probably not doing any sex crimes or anything like that. He's also not like J.K. Rowling, intentionally making himself the face of hatred, he seems to mostly keep his home life and views to himself.

I think people are just really mad at him because of the dark side of parasocial relationships. When the illusion is broken that the person is not the same person that their mind made them out to be, it amplifies the bad things about them (for examples of this, see r/RantGrumps or r/CinemassacreTruth).

I’ve always just found him to be a bland and uninteresting actor who will get to star in 40 movies every year because of Parks and Rec goodwill. A face to Hollywood corporate blandness if you will

They'll make up all sorts of reasons, but honestly, the real reason is that his videos aren't as good as they used to be, and he's phoning it in for money.

i don't hate pratt or his acting because he generally keeps his mouth shut about the weird shit he believes, but he's definitely not a good guy to feel that GOD is giving him the thumbs up for being homophobic and whatnot

Oh jeez. I frequented CinemassacreTruth out of curiosity and the whole sub is just constantly shitting on James for any reason they can find and digging into his personal life.

"We met in church", usually these guys are very insulated in cultural conservative views that the only women that want to date them are those that are very involved in church.

"She helps me with everything, in return I open a jar", usually when you hear this from certain guys you know that the wife is doing all the housework and domestic labour while the guy sits around all day and can barely make instant noodles/ramen for himself.

Compares his wife to sports memorabilia, a lot of guys like this do this because they view their wife as an object,an achievement to check off on a checklist.

If both parties are fine with this, it's alright I guess, but so many people get sucked into this kind of stuff.

Weird in the sense that it's a harmful perversion of reality? For sure

Weird in the sense that it's unusual or uncommon? Not at all

I think it’s the social media rich thing where everyone has to present like they have the perfect sterile life.

that might just be the fact that you don't like him though.

It's an entirely reasonable conclusion to draw from that text that he's saying he loves his wife which isn't a bizzare thing to post about

The Hollywood mega church he's involved in, Hillsong, operates similar to Scientology from what I remember. Just, yknow, Jesus instead of aliens

I'm not totally sure, I'd only heard about it tangentially. The only other person I remember being a member was Justin Bieber but I think there's loads of others
