literally 32% percentage point lead holy fuck. The way the mainstream media talk about trump nowadays you'd think chuds had cancelled him and joined the libs at brunch

God damn, I thought he and Desantis were neck-and-neck with the media coverage.

I also thought that. Are they manufacturing a desantis win this time like they did for trump in 2016, giving way more coverage than is due? Because holy fuck please don’t do that Trump is so much less evil than DeSantis

Its going to be interesting if Trump runs. I don't think capital wants him, thats why media is pushijg Desantis. But without interference Trump would he the republican nominee hamds down. It'll be interesting to see how far capital is willing to and able to stop it

Also I really don't see Trump & supporters getting behind whoever the establishment chooses the way Bernie did in 2020

Very true. I think thats a big reason why they may not be able to stop him, I'm curious how far they will go, and whether or not Desantis would openly challenge him over the same base

Unless Trump becomes noticably too sick to run, I can't imagine him losing

At least a third of republicans think Trump won the 2020 election (lowballing hard here), I can't imagine people dumping him for someone who looks more presentable

DeSantis is a lot more frightening a prospect

He's not going to do anything meaningfully different than any other Republican. The only reason he's polling so well now is because he's shamelessly flinging out red meat. But as soon as he's in office, he'll have what he wants and move entirely to enriching himself and his cronies.

Trump did the same shit. A few weeks of red meat that mostly got thrown out in courts, followed by Bush-tier policies complete with as much of the original administration as he could pull together.

If anything, I might argue things will get better under DeSantis than Biden simply because DeSantis has enough of a populist streak to give people what they actually want.

DeSantis is more of a true believer in all of that red meat he throws out

He's definitely free about pandering. But the hard right turn before a primary is very normal in Republican circles.

Bush ran as small government, deficit hawkish, and anti-war in 2000. He did a full 180 even before 9/11.

If the Dems and the media want to push Trump republicans to get people to vote Dem in the general, why don't they support Trump running in the general?

I can confirm from personal experience that the only people excited for DeSantis are the bourgeoisie. Every other chud is still nostalgic for Trump if not already in the god king emperor conspiracy rabbit hole religion and raring to act up next election.

I mean really, Trump's judges just overturned Roe, why wouldn't the base just give him the win again?

    Desantis is gonna win

1 year from now Trump will be considered "not le based enough" because he didn't froth uncontrollably enough with the acceptable amount of vitriol and he's overall kinda more likeable and funny (inadvertently) than Desantis

also the masters actually like Desantis and despise Trump

Also how popular is desantis really? His claim to fame is winning in Florida by 0.4%... like the media is clearly trying to make him the next trump but he just barely won the Florida governorship.

the media is clearly trying to make him the next trump

you think Hilldawg's trying to fund him so she doesn't have to take a second L to Tangerine Trump?

Would be incredible if Hillary funded moderates next time so she suffers a less embarrassing loss.

DeSantis appeals nearly as much as Trump to the frothing maga lunatics, while being preferred by Capital, white flight suburbanites, and the dedicated christofascist evangelicals.

I worry that DeSantis is the person who can bridge that gap. He’s a steadier hand than Trump for Capital but gives the maga base their chum and only really diverges from Trump to go further.

Libs really are thinking this Jan 6 nonsense is some Perry Mason high drama. I went over to someone's house 2 weeks ago and they said, are you going to watch on Thursday?

And I said (quite innocently since I have no idea what shit is going down on CSPAN), watch what? Is the Cosby Show back on or something?

And I was immediately the wrong kind of person for not being a Jan 6 hearing spectator. Jokes gonna be on them when a coup-instigating traitor beats Brandon.

Libs have to believe Trump's base will come to reason and join them at brunch and re-embrace the Romneys of the party.

Because if Trump voters don't do that on their own, Libs have literally no solutions to make it happen (except smug condescension and scolding, which never works).

There's a democrat circle of life.

When a Trump rally has low attendance - libs on Twitter and on Reddit are a-hooting and a-hollering. I think they actually convince themselves that one rally is proof that Trump's popularity with republicans is ebbing and will never recover. They ignore any evidence to the contrary. Of course Trump's popularity didn't even go down 0.1% from that rally. The dems soon pretend they had no interest in the rally and forget all about it.

Trump has a rally and he got booed! It was juts once but still! Libs on Twitter and on Reddit are a-hooting and a-hollering...

The reason why Trump won't win is because he's too unpredictable and therefore will not be backed by the establishment.

Just like the DNC threw every potential candidate out there to derail Bernie, the RNC will do the same come :vote: time.
