I think they can be seen on the sub but your username is deleted and it won't show on your profile. The permanent option is one of those scripts that edits all of your comments to some random message.
Your deleted posts / comments are also backed up in a couple open-source projects that pull all of reddit history. You need to contact each of those to have them delete
