:yea:

I probably hadn't thought about that awful podcast in over a year. Went over to r/redscarepod out of curiosity, and this was there. I guess they've done a full reactionary heel turn, to literally no one's surprise.

Comments on this indicate it's real, and the commentators, as awful as fans of that podcast are, were dunking on her, too.

Ideologically incoherent rambler on Peter Thiel's payroll wants to become a marble statue nazi, how absolutely surprising.

"Exclusive and elegant club for cultural conservatives"? Is this some Epstein island shenanigans?

Hot take about Dasha that will probably get me canceled: not a huge fan, disagree with her on a lot

      My 2 cents:

Not "patriotic socialists" or nazbols. People who like leftist policies but don't really put it all together in some sort of coherent political ideology because caring about things is for losers.

And I think the whole red scare / cum town community is like this site's Oort Cloud for wreckers, if this site was earth and wreckers were like comets. I really don't think we get any chuds or liberals who try and wreck shit. It's people whose politics might be a bit closer to our own but think that wrecking is "funny" because we care about things.

And I think the whole red scare / cum town community is like this site’s Oort Cloud for wreckers,

The folks most interested in wrecking always come in with this intense partisan passion, posting troll-bait and calling everyone a cop or a pedophile or whatever.

The Red Scare / Cum Town crew never seemed to have that kind of energy. They're more the cynical :sit-back-and-enjoy: wing of leftist politics. Just kinda whining about how everyone sucks and Leftism will never actually work.

I'd say they're contrarians first and foremost. If a mainstream figure says something there's going to be some users that oppose it. Other than that, a good portion are apolitical, another good portion are Marxists, with a minority of conservatives.

Most of its users are anti-imperialist, economically liberal and socially conservative

I was at my cousin's house when he excitedly received a package in the mail. It was a t-shirt from the pod and I sincerely hope his excitement was ironic.

She dodged being the wife of future national primetime talkshow host Adam Friedland, I don't know what you're talking about

She's from the extended Chapoverse. Part of the group of Brooklyn podcasters from the 2014-2018 cultural moment. Felix Biderman of Chapo was roommates with Nick Mullen of cumtown when both pods started. Nick later became roommates with Dasha and/or Ana Keychain while they had their podcast Red Scare. Dasha dated Adam Friedland, also of cumtown, concurrently with both pods. Dasha was also friends with Bryce Belden of TrueAnon, when he was briefly in New York. Bryce being a friend and an early guest of Chapo as well.

Basically most of the dirtbag leftist podcasts are all one group of friends.

Interesting. I was unaware of how intermingled the "dirtbag" left is/was. I don't particuarly listen to any of the other mentioned shows. I don't engage with the extended "Chapoverse", I mostly use the podcast as a means to keep a beat on the street with cultural/internet leftie/left-adjecent stuff. What you described sounds messy and weird. I like drama as much as the next guy but only really drama of people I actually know.

Might as well mention Alex Ptak and Jamie Peck and Briahna Joy Gray while we're at it. Chapo launched a dozen leftist podcasts of note, including Pod Damn America, The Antifada, and Bad Faith.

That's one I hear about often but from the sounds of things it's better off that I don't know who this dude (I assume it's a dude) is.

V* is at least relevant in the current day and age. Red Scare is a relic from the Bernie days.

It was always "What if Leftists did Call Her Daddy Podcast".

I'll never get why people were so hung up on them. They did nothing of consequence

this sent me down a rabbit hole of whatever the fuck this milieu is putting out, and jesus christ what a bunch of actual, literal garbage. i dabble a little in visual arts and have helped in some theater work and have been around much more committed artists as friends and co-creators. the point being, i have no problem with creative weirdos. not just that, i like them and like being around them.

but, really, i have no patience for self-indulgent drek put out by self-serving careerist pigs, being transgressive for the sake of transgression. or people who are so up-their-own-ass and branded as an artist they try to play off their fucked-upedness as part of some conceptual performance piece. "oh, i didn't literally do what i just did. i'm just playing the role of someone who would do that out in the world."

      what a toxic environment.

Shakespeare was not a noble and had friends like Kit Marlowe who came from even poorer families. For some people, it's a real problem that an ordinary person could have written something of worth, so they attribute it to some Earl or Viscount instead.

That was something. One of those times the curtain lifts and you realize how fucking weird and pathetic some people are. Would love to see what some of those audience members are like.
