:gordon-ramsey-finally:
Other highlights from the Direct:
-Kirby's Return to Dreamland remake (top 3 Kirby game of all time imo)
-Goldeneye 007 coming to Switch N64 library WITH ONLINE PLAY, along with Mario Party 1-3 and Pokemon Stadium 1 + 2
After a series of really disappointing directs, this was pretty awesome
OH MY GOD Nintendo UK didn't stream this because the game is named "Tears of the Kingdom", that is hilarious
This is almost as funny as the coup and their 9/11 album cover
Holy shit, I didn't know about this one.
Another good one was George Carlin recording "I Kinda Like It When a Lotta People Die" on September 10, 2001
Reminds me of when Americans got angry about the title of "The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers", back when it came out. This really is UK's 9/11.
As a kid I always thought the name of that movie was The Twin Towers and I refuse to correct it in my head
"Listen bud: America deserved 9/11" --J.R.R. Tolkien
Did the general public somehow not know it was based on a book written nearly 50 years prior to 9/11?
Announcing a game called "tears of the kingdom" the same week the queen died is kind of funny.
I'm a little zelda baby just pour zelda into the funnel sticking out of my brain and I'll be happy :meow-bounce:
Yeah. Botw is imo maybe the best zelda and best open world to ever come out, so very excited for the sequel! Also for the obscene glitch heavy speedruns lmao.
Porn artists thanking god that they have new outfits for Link to wear while he gets smashed by buff fish/bird men
Damn, I see everyone talking about new Zelda, but I'm more here for Pikmin 4.
Maybe I'm just a boomer, but I was pretty disappointed in BotW, and it's success means I expect Tears of the Kingdom to be the same, but bigger.
Though, since I am a Nintendo sucker, I probably will get drawn in by the hype and rave reviews, buy it anyway, and leave disappointed when it caters to different tastes then mine, which is how I've felt about a lot of recent '10/10' video games.
Me, cheesing every temple puzzle
Zelda used to have real puzzles
I feel you though. I would like just one more "classic" zelda game on newer hardware. Maybe someone will do an overhaul mod of BOTW or something one day even if nintendo won't. :yea:
Honestly, while I'd love more 'traditional' temples, my biggest complaint is just how huge the world is, and how little there is to do in the overworld that's exciting. Like a lot of 'open world' games, the little collectables, 'crafting' farmables, ect. Just feel like busy work to me. Most people I've talked to that love the game love the open ended feel of messing around in the physics sandbox, but I dunno, it's cool, but I really only got like an hour of joy out of that portion of the game, which got me like 1% of the way through, and then just became tedious. Got through 2 of the temples before just deciding it wasn't for me.
Hey now, BOTW has real puzzles in it's four half-sized dungeons.
Really hoping they get away from the "level editor tileset" feeling of the shrines in the sequel. There's no reason you couldn't do better environmental puzzles in BOTW's engin, it was an explicit design choice to put all of that gameplay into the shrines and one they should walk back.
I'm cautiously optimistic because combining the overworld of BotW with more enemy variety, proper dungeons and a bit more of a cohesive structure to the main quest, the game could be amazing. If it's just BotW but with 300 shrines and 2000 Korok seeds, meh.
Goldeneye 007 coming to Switch N64 library WITH ONLINE PLAY
The best part about Nintendo Online is that there's no voice chat so I can finally play a good shooter without having to deal with gamers.
Ngl I think Goldeneye has aged terribly and don't understand the appeal anymore, but excited about everything else!
Yeah I've played it a couple of times since the golden era and the controls are straight up garbage. Aiming is like trying to parallel park a tractor trailer.
Imo like the other person here said, it's definitely an issue of controls. I played recently and remapped the controls to an Xbox controller how you'd expect and it's fun
Nintendo release Twilight Princess and Wind Waker on Switch you cowards :soviet-huff:
:lets-fucking-go:
I’m so excited. Gonna try to replay BotW on Master Mode before this comes out. It’s such a good damn game.

This is Fire Emblem erasure!
We have to have FE erasure to make up for them taking up all the Smash character slots :rage-cry:
Masahiro Sakurai just loves him some sword weilding anime twinks and twunks. It can't be helped.
At least Byleth has a move set that reflects different weapons from the series. :vivian-shrug:
Oh yeah I don't play FE so I forgot about that :agony-soviet: Also Octopath Traveler 2
Also Octopath Traveler 2
I keep meaning to play the first one, but I feel like they always have the weakest ass sales on it.
Plus Front Mission 1, 2, and now 3!
I don't have a switch but wanna play BOTW. I have a PS5 controller I'd like to use for it. What are my options here? Cemu/Yuzu? Dolphin?
cemu is the way to go (lots of mods and the emulator is basically built to run botw and nothing else)
I managed to get ps4 gyro working in it, so ps5 should also be fine
Sick thanks! As far as the game itself goes, if I hate crafting, can I get away with ignoring that aspect?
"crafting" is very limited
you either drop shit in a pot to get food or you buy one specific set of weapons with items
Don't you need to do crafting stuff to get better armor though? I remember feeling like that 'collecting a bunch of random stuff to climb up armor enchant tiers' feeling like lots of busy work.
You needed gubbins to upgrade your clothes but that's it, and I would hardly qualify it as 'crafting' more like 'collecting items for an NPC' and it was pretty optional, upgraded clothes didn't really give you terribly much benefit other than more damage reduction iirc
I use a save editor to ignore crafting: craft one item that you want, then edit the item to x999 and never craft it again :)
Yuzu is the only option since it's switch only. You might need a relatively new PC though.
Edit: just saw you meant the first one, yeah CEMU (and the wiiu version) is the best option. You can Google wiiu USB helper, best way to pirate wii and wiiu games (directly from Nintendo servers lol)

I have somehow never heard of this and damn well know what I'm doing tonight now!
It has some really nice features like it installs emulators for you, and creates steam shortcuts for individual games. Honestly great little application for lazy emulation
Usb helper? No! But what you can do is use it to download, extract, and decrypt a bunch of files, throw them on the steam deck, and play.
I probably wouldn't suggest it because cemu is already at the limit of the steam deck :( . I get frame drops in twilight princess hd and wind waker hd, which are probably the easier wiiu games to run. Though the device runs the GameCube versions with HD texture packs perfectly.
I liked that. The game has a lot of features people hate that my ocd loved
It just needs a reward system for breaking weapons, so it doesn’t feel bad when you go break one.
Give me some rare metal shards used for crafting or something. Just make me want to break everything, rather than hoard.
what you don't find having every sword be as disposable as a razor blade fun and compelling gameplay??
