Absolutely gut busting paragraph from the end if the article

The country that controls the source of energy that keeps technological civilization running will control the Earth. If China becomes that country, considering its human rights record and imperial foreign policy, history will take a dark turn. Therefore, the United States and the countries that have signed the Artemis Accords must acquire control of lunar helium-3 and develop the technology to use it as a source of fusion energy. Thus, the Artemis program will ensure the continuance of prosperity and human freedom on the Earth.

I chose 40 years because the Chinese invasion of Vietnam was 43 years ago. While that was a terrible error and a tragedy, I don’t think you can call it imperialism. It ended within 3 weeks and returned to the status quo, and China was doing what it did to protect its ally Cambodia :cringe:

In hindsight, Vietnam was completely in the right and China really fucked up. Thousands of communist lives lost needlessly.

Vietnam is still really mad about the Chinese hydroelectric dam fucking up their river, but that's a whole other kettle of fish

Just once I want to actually talk to one of these ghouls and make them reconcile with the human rights record and imperial foreign policy of the US and how it is objectively worse than 1000 China's. I want to hear them say "it's ok when we do it" because that's the only position they can actually hold.

They generally buy their own propaganda pretty hard. If you’ve argued with libs on Reddit you’ve pretty much gotten the experience of talking to the average NGO exec

isn't there enough helium-3 on the moon to kill god. do they think china is going to fortify the moon like a colony?

I hate to set the lathe in motion, but surely that's projection?

Yes, but actually no. The moon has high concentrations of He3 the same way a Boomer's brain has high concentrations of lead. High enough to detect, but diffused all throughout and barely enough there to call it an "ore" in the first place.

We cant even pull off Deuterium/Tritium fusion for more than a few fractions of a second, but yeah, im sure this even harder, unobtainium-filled pathway is the way forward.

On that note, I'm selling Boron-11 futures if you know any hogs with disposable income.

At least in the first Cold War, there would be joint space missions and some optimistic overtures towards "shared future for the brotherhood of humanity". But we can't even have that.

I wonder what the cause of that is. My guess is they China seems to be much more of an economic threat to the US than the Soviet Union.

China also forgave a lot of debt over the course of covid. IMF hasn't. Even as economists continue to recommend this as the soveriegn debt crisis continues to mount.
