    "reward" fucking REWARD

they are holding this over our heads as collateral to win the election (which they wont)

They fucking know they won't. So years down the line, they will push it onto us for their incompetence. Just like they're trying to hold 2016 over us.

"Well you should have voooooted harder back in 2032. Back then, we had the chance to codify the 'Cannot Murder Gay People in Broad Daylight' Act!"

"It's your fault Roe v Wade wasn't saved because you didn't vote hard enough."

        "I did vote."

        "... but not hard enough."

Like religion except instead of your pastor being supportive when things go wrong, they just scream at you for not loving God enough

It's a game to them. And marginalized people aren't viewed as players on their team. We're the ball.

Because the president/party can't act on what is good or moral, he will only do this as a reward for the stupid piggies who keep crying about abortion so they STFU.

I mean, even if he cared overnight, wouldn't there be forces within even his own party to stop it? He could try to enforce party discipline, but then threats would come from other sources (ie their donors).

Not to excuse this sack of shit, of course.

If he did it ahead of time and still lost, he is losing leverage on voters

Failing to pass it before the election would do more to show that the dems want to pass legislation, they just need more seats than this shit.

Allegedly he can't bring Manchin and Sinema to heel. He could literally declare them terrorists and have them tortured and it would be legal, but he's just a big soft baby who has no power.

Especially when SCOTUS will fast track a case and shoot it down, or just declare from the bench that it's not constitutional without even taking a case.

God he could just have them all killed and it would be so easy and it would be legal bc the scotus said they can't intervene when the potus decides to kill terrorists!

The anti-choice faction within the DNC has convinced the rest that abortion rights are unpopular with Americans, specifically suburban middle class midterm voters

I don’t understand, is there a technical reason why they cannot do this before the election?
