Everywhere I've lived non-scheduled bus routes run like every 5-10 mins anyway.
Also, just walk for a bit? Or instead of doing a grocery trip pick some stuff up on the way home every day, one of the advantages of cities is usually, bus or walk, there's a grocery store on your commute home. Like you don't need to isolate every bit of your life.
I think it's usually a nice tell. Like I don't think the guy posting that would've phrased it like this unless they were really mad about how inconvenient their grocery trips are.
Also, house the homeless man so he can pleasure himself in the privacy of his own home.
Just pleasure the homeless yourself. Direct action bby!
:volcel-judge: all approved , it's for a good cause
I don't know anyone who lives in a city who can't just walk to grocery store
Careful, there's enough fools who know about urban "food deserts" caused by other things totally unrelated to population density that assume it's some phenomena that only occurs because of density.
Fuck there's even bicycles made to help you carry several bags back as well (I've also seen people with those sweet foldup carts too which are nice)
Bull fucking shit it is five minutes, I've waited at red lights longer than that on the way to the store
windcels seething at my solar panels
bicyclecels coping at my unicycle
trombonecels malding at my trumpet
It's been absolutely insane to watch.
Kind of goes to show they're the result of deep veins of ideology in our society, not just a bunch of weird one offs.
I think it's an evolutionary branch of 4chan language that replaces the typical slur suffixes with "-cel" instead, allowing it to propagate more readily in other communities since it's less likely to be stamped out.
Yeah I was thinking it was pretty much the same as the f*g suffix on everything in 4chan
If you get enough into suburban brainworms the idea of shopping trip that isn't a weekly shop done by car seems impossible to them. In their mind, every shopping trip has about 30 minutes of headway between walking the gigantic store, parking, unloading and such. They can't conceive of the idea that it could take you all of 10 minutes in total.
Legit just stopping by the nearest grocers on your way home is anathema or seen as inconvenient
I find it so much less maddening than spending extended period of time in a big grocery store, and it taking so long that I need to schedule a block of time for it. Small detour on the way home just seems so much more natural. Seems like people like this end up causing themselves more stress trying to optimize these mundane tasks that could easily be slotted into your daily life without a second thought.
Yeah. These giant stores are such repulsing places. It takes forever getting there, because they're placed outside of residential areas. And the place itself is hideous, a hostile desert landscape of carparks and giant oppressive concrete sarcophagi, dedicated to promoting mindless consumerism. No human being can thrive there. Even if you go but car, which is allegedly super-convenient, you have to walk a stupid long way just to get full your parking spot and into the store. Once you get inside there's a million people running around in there with oversized shopping carts. And the place is just too big on the inside. Did you forget to get apples before moving on to the napkin section? Congratulations, you just earned yourself a five minute walk back to where the apples are just because some psycho made the store too god damn big. And you always end up buying lots of useless crap you don't want because the place is made to manipulate you. Going there takes all day and drains all your energy.
I prefer to make weekly shopping trips though, that way I know I always have the same things at home every night, which I prefer.
I love to pay Chevron $5/gal for the privilege of purchasing food :very-intelligent:
I've lived:
- city
- suburbs
- exurbs
- rural town
Honestly, best trips to the grocery store were in the rural town. 5 minute walk down the middle of the street cause you'll see like 4 cars per hour. City had better variety but at worst it was like a 20min walk each way, which is admittedly hard to do in the snow/cold and/or while carrying anything heavy. I got frostnip on the walk once cause I lost my gloves and a heavy bag I was carrying cut off circulation a bit.
Nuke the exurbs and :inshallah-script: the suburbs will be demolished by the pressure wave
well here in the communist states of the european union i have multiple supermarkets in a 15 min walk radius while in urban areas
I've got three different supermarkets within a 5 min walk right next to each other :thinking-about-it:
obviously never tried to buy a house outside the city, usually grocery store is minimum 15 minutes away.
These motherfuckers. I have two supermarkets within a ten minute walk and if i need something specific the buses are so numerous, some just whip on by because there's already one at the stop.
And if you're driving for only five minutes, you deserve a fucking blowout and jamming your car into a tree, breaking both your arms, your ass, face, neck and head. Five minutes. Fucking lazy bastards.
That's not true in my experience. Buses may run like every half hour in peak hours but probably once an hour otherwise, and I live in the middle of my city. Trains are more frequent but cover less geography in my current location lived in Boston for a while, and the T was better but waiting for an hour or more was so common I'd walk home half the time, (about 3 miles at th time). Cars suck but US public transit is not very good either, it was hard enough to navigate as a relatively healthy young person with no kids, so I can't pass judgment on people trying to get to and from work/school in a more convenient manner. Public transit needs to be much better to supplant cars.

Jesus all mighty. I cannot imagine living like this.
Major buses/trains run every 5ish minutes (and 2ish minutes during peak) where I live. Every regular bus has a schedule of at most 20 minutes.
I. Would. Literally. Die.
currently in boston, and when it's not winter, it's just faster to bike or walk half the time...
