Fucking twits. Even if you absoltuely loathe us, we are in no way a threat to anyone. Well, idk, that does kind of look like a devolved Papal Cross, maybe the sticker us put up by fash. But like all the leftists malding about us because we think Uncle Joe had some good points are deeply, deeply unserious about who their enemies are.

I went to a punk style hangout the other week and one of the guitarists had a sticker of a big 🚫 symbol with a hammer and sickle inside on his guitar. And all I could think is this guy is either a fascist or a very confused anarchist, or maybe just some lib.

How goofy is that, that I can't pin down a person's politics if they declare themselves anti-tankie. It could mean anything. Vague nebulous nothing. Whereas if someone declared themselves anti-fascist, that's incredibly clear where they are

Punks will do the most cringe shit ever and then follow it up with arranging a soup kitchen. Kinda wild.

This is what happens when your leftism stems from your life be an ongoing temper tantrum. It's not the worst outcome of what no theory does to a mf, or in this case often, bad theory, like whatever in the diy zine library or lyrics written by a teenager in the 1980s. Thats where I started as well but kept going, it gets less fun as you do and that's generally where the wall is hit.

In my experience, punks are pretty good at organizing stuff, often legit good stuff, but only on the local level and often mostly benefiting other punks and punk adjacent people. Like yeah they can throw together a pretty competent vegan soup kitchen but most of the people there are gonna be other crust-punk types. Which, hey great you're keeping each other fed but I don't see this blossoming into a larger movement anytime soon.

Having a pretty effective worldwide underground network just so broke people in bands can tour and for music distribution. There's a pretty small scene with a very good reputation where I am and we can haul in bands from Japan, Russia, Mexico, Columbia, Spain, England etc to our shitty Canadian burg which is a 12 hour drive to the next viable show cause we set people up well and generally bands make more than the travel costs, which can be rare.

That is organizing though. The kind of shit we should all be doing. Honestly, what other kind of organizing is actually being done (in the US)?

      cambrian esque explosion waow

Yeah, from what I've seen a lot of leftist spaces rn are being flooded with people who are into abstract leftist ideas but in terms of anything more complex like history or geopolitics are still super Lib brained. Lots of people who have read Marx but still think the USSR was 2nd only to Nazi Germany in terms of evil and who support nuking the DPRK for "humanitarian" reasons. The younger more optimistic me would call these people "baby leftists" and argue theirs potential to educate them, but over the years I've if anything seen most of these people get MORE Lib while still holding onto the leftist aesthetics, confronting them on their BS if anything just makes them dig their heels in more. I've gotten to the point I don't get excited anymore when I meet someone irl who calls themselves a leftist/socialist/anarchist anymore, I just wince and wait for the Contra/Vaush level bad takes to start flowing.

What the fuck is the point of "anti tankie action" supposed to be? What purpose is there to taking "action" against people who are already completely powerless, unless you're a fascist who just enjoys hurting the weak?

There is a not insignificant amount of ultraleft communists in the punk scene. You got the typical ancoms and "true anarchists" sure, but in my local scene there are left coms, trots, maoists, etc. If you like bad music and breaking shit you usually will fit right in.

Its totally my scene tbh, but I would undoubtedly be hated by whoever put this sticker up.

I've encountered a lot of "post-left" and pseudo-primitivist types (anti-civ was a thing for a bit) back in my punk days.

If you're gonna be an AnPrim just admit you're an AnPrim, I really hate all these new ways they dress it up.

Like, with the way the worlds going right now I have moments I get a bit demoralized with modern society and almost go AnPrim for a second, but if gonna go down that route have the courage to just embrace it.

The Finnish "left" and the self-appointed "indie leftists" that were very loud on Twitter when I was still on it always made this anti-tankiness their entire position. It's infuriating.

They think they are all so smart with their inherited soviet brainworms. In this country no leftist has even heard of Parenti or ever read anything outside the bourge appointed academia.

I especially despise this one millenial guy who does supposedly leftist content badly to like an audience of five on YT and his whole thing is hating on "Stalinists". Would not be surprised if these are his stickers, seems invested in shitting on fellow leftists.

he's not shitting on "fellow leftists" he's a petty bourgeois liberal preaching solidarity between the bourgeoisie and the labor aristocracy against the proletariat, i.e. communists. "Leftist" as a term in the imperial core is used to reinterpret the historical conflict against fascism to include liberals and to exclude communists.
