people are so fucking selfish and stupid they can't even wear a goddamn mask around their face for a few minutes at a time. my stupid fucking mom is one of those people and it is actually impossible to be around her anymore. she thinks she's some fucking freedom fighter fighting against the oppressive government, which is especially ironic when she votes for conservatives.

i cant stand this fucking world anymore

Pinning so much hope in Jeremy Corbyn killed me. Giving my all to get him elected as labour leader and trying to make him prime minister, only to see a decent man destroyed and smeared as an antisemite. The experience completely opened my eyes to what world we actually lived in, and killed my young optimism.

When the bourgeoisie manufactures crisis after crisis the people subject to them can no longer tell the difference between what is real and isn't.

This is a really good point. I think the media has done itself a huge disservice falling over itself to make Trump out to be the next hitler. It makes anyone who aligns with the right completely dismiss literally everything the media says and I don't blame them

It was pretty funny when they stopped covering trump events because Trump would pretend to have some big announcement and it'd just turn into 60 minutes of campaign speaches and then some insignificant announcement tacked on to the end.

People from Georgia are so fucking dumb. They won’t wear a mask because there’s a “99.6% survival rate” after they’ve seen their Atlanta Falcons blow two leads in the fourth quarter with a 99.9% win probability in a 8 day span

I haven't even approached the matter with mine, because her brain suffers from full fledged MAGA rot, but she lives close to one of the early epicenters so hopefully she at least takes the virus seriously.

A few years ago, before I realized how bad it was, she was talking about how easy it is for people to come here, and how we need to restrict immigration and build a wall, straight up repeating lies, so I sent her some links, to different news outlets, ones closest to neutral, and even a few from the govt itself, with what the actual facts of the matter were.

She sent me back an infowars video of some guy in an ISIS Halloween costume, complete with fake severed head, crossing a stream he claimed to be the Mexican border.

Like, okay then, I see you've gone over the edge. You'll hear from me on birthdays and holidays from now on.

But how have you not regained your hope after seeing so many people set shit on fire for months on end in protest of racist police violence?

it's straight up bizarre. It's fucking weird bro. It's like when I hear country music "how can anybody stand this? Isn't the gimmick obvious? It doesn't even sound good. You know they think you're stupid right?"

I like country. It's fun. Music ain't about beauty to me. It's about being able to sing a long and vibe.

I'll listen to it later. I'm a Brit, and the country I listen to is known as 'bro country' and it's all about trucks and beer and that kinda dumb shit. The dumber the country song the more I like it. Just always puts a smile on my face.

Im not trying to be elitist. I myself am dumb and trashy. But when I hear that shit, I think how stupid they must think their audience is. I wonder how anybody can think the tunes sound good. But that's just a taste thing. The thing that isn't a matter of taste is how fucking stupid they think their audience is. It is music for people without a culture to be like "oh I'm wearing pants! All of us are wearing pants! Pants must be our culture!"

They literally sing about their pants.

I think pop country is like a eulogy on repeat. The guy died years ago and nobody remembers him anymore. So the eulogist is like "oh I remember Dave. He sure did like eating meals. Two shoes, every day. Yep that was our Dave".

That Dave segment is spot on and I love it. I would listen to that shit any day. Two Shoes Dave. A banger.

A coworkers girlfriend is a nurse, she said she had 3-5 people freak out and call her a "George Soros agent/liberal tool/deep state agent" when she tells them they've tested positive for coronavirus. One of the nurses coworkers had a patient almost refuse to be intubated.

Yea I should've clarified. Called the nurse a liberal faker, George Soros agent, the whole nine yards.

On the flip side, she's been radicalized by the response from the public and went from a bleeding heart girl boss democrat to full Maoist in the span of 6 months so I guess there's a silver lining.

Keep it in perspective. For as many anti-mask protests you see, considerably more people take this shit more seriously

It really is this absolutely perfect and tragic metaphor for the deep sickness at the heart of American society. Like, you can explain to people over and over again that it’s not about protecting themselves, it’s about protecting each other. And they’re still gonna come back with “durr did you know the masks don’t even protect you!”. It’s so fucking deranged. It’s really easy to feel like this countries unsalvageable. You chapos give me some hope though.
