Why was that chosen when we became Hexbear instead of chapochat

og-hex-bear this is the original six-sided bear, it was a popular image in the old chapotraphouse subreddit shortly before it was shut down

it was chosen because the admins wanted a new name for the site and nobody came up with anything that resonated better with the community

Never made sense to be associated with the podcast once the sub took off, because the vast majority of people on the sub had never once listened to it. I remember people asking why we picked the name chapo trap house.

Genuinely didn't know why the sub was called that until like right before it was closed

I've wondered if there is a connection to Easy Anti Cheat that also has used a hexagon bear logo. Like as a way to troll Epic perhaps?

hey i'm the head of the hexbear legal department. through a loop hole in the law via living in a dumpster and being technically classified as trash i am an untaxable subject, so i know what i'm talking about, however, since i'm not technically considered a human being in the eyes of "the government" i'm not legally technically speaking allowed to be barred. courts don't usually check though so we should be good

One thing that I'm surprised is being left out is that the admins were doing outreach to various leftist groups, and they were able to get into a conversation with at least a chapter of was one of the more substantial ones (maybe PSL?) who then refused because of the website referencing El Chapo. They rightly decided it would be better for the site's public image to not have that name, and the site had somewhat grown apart from the podcast anyway.

I heard it came from a hexadecimal interpretation of The Quran, which was first done by an important wahhabi scholar who may have played a part in 9/11, and then some El Chapo trap-house picked up on that because he hates America and the Russian bear is America's nemesis and everyone here gets paid Putin bucks on the side, or so I've been told.
