I remember being shocked and delighted at how good Fauxmoi was about being anti Gazan genocide when I first saw the sub and then horrified at how quickly they turned into fascists when Kamala Harris got the candidacy.

Surprised and tentatively delighted that the Cuban poster's comment is so much more upvoted.

        domestic abuse

        spoiler

most based place online when it comes to domestic abuse stories. like every time a woman is a victim of an internet hate mob for being a domestic abuse victim angelina/megan/amber (not Tara Reade), its the only place online that won't tolerate justification of domestic abuse (except Tara Reade) and makes me feel less crazy. ive seen lots of hexbear users spread the misogynistic myth of "mutual abuse" so not even here is a reprieve from the pro-woman beating propaganda.

    high rate of incarceration

More people in jail in US right now than during peak Stalin gulag purge + Mao revolution combined, both in raw numbers and per capita.

Daily reminder that Chine would need around 10 million prisoners to get the same incarceration rate as the US.

Who're you going to trust, some tankie that has read actual literature on the matter, or some redditor that spent 10 minutes reading wikipedia?

This is bypassed by using a different IP and changing your browser's user-agent. They can't device ban you as they can't actually get any information about your device, what they do instead is browser ban people by tracking your browser's signature, by changing the user-agent of the browser it fools their system into uncertainty about the signature and does not trigger the automated bans.

Using Opera browser with the built-in VPN turned on (before visiting reddit and receiving cookies) will do it and as the Opera VPN only affects Opera itself this doesn't affect any of your other activity on your machine.

No "bad" at all, just dropping the info in case you or anyone else is looking at bypassing it. Common experience and reddit does make it difficult to bypass.

Fauxmoi prevents comments from being posted unless you have 10 historic comments in the subreddit in the last 30 days so it wouldn't work here. I did post a comment response that has been approved though.

In nearly every sense, I have more freedoms in the US than I did in Venezuela. My husband left Cuba and feels the exact same way. I can vote in a fair election, express myself freely, start a business, earn a living wage, protest peacefully, etc. All things people take for granted in the US. Here we have a balance of power between democrats and republicans, as well as checks and balances in government. That doesn’t exist in Venezuela or Cuba. I feel I have to remind my fellow democrats that dictatorships are objectively bad, whether left leaning or right leaning. I believe political freedom and freedom of expression are such basic human rights that I have no sympathy for people who have “solidarity” with authoritarian governments.

My country Venezuela yearns for freedom

Fucking idiot, whats worse is how a lot of these people go for Trump because "left bad"

No mercy for these morons they have no idea what theyre talking about.

Please. Venezuela was always a fucking mess. Someone i know told me that it was immigrants in venezuela was why poverty and literacy numbers were so bad in venezuela.

Come the fuck on, even if that is true, why is there so much illiteracy and poverty in south america

I can vote in a fair election

"Vote for the conservative, pro war, pro genocide, xenophobic candidate or the slightly less conservative, pro war, pro genocide, xenophobic candidate"

        express myself freely

This idiot think people outside the western hegemony just stare at the wall all day until bedtime?

        start a business

lmao, only 90+ percent of those fail. This clown is MUCH closer to your cousin that started a random construction business and had it go under than they are to Steve Jobs.

        earn a living wage

        ...in the US? L M A O

        protest peacefully

Police are the ones who decide whether the protest will be peaceful or not, so good luck with that

She can do all of these things because she wants to vote for someone harmless, because she wants to express mainstream ideas aligned with regime ideology, because who cares if she starts a business, because she has the network and background to be a labour aristocrat and because the only things she wants to protest are things that doesn't bother the regime.

She is free but if she wanted to use her freedom differently she wouldn't be.

those who do not move do not notice their chains

gusanos who get pissed at the "oppression" of Cuba are generally just mad they can't exploit others and scrape their way to the top of a pyramid of profit extraction. To them, being unable to make their own towing company is worse than being arrested for doing journalism

I've always had a strong suspicion that some think tank numbers and "qualitative" assessments of prison conditions in Cuba count Gitmo without giving that context. I have no specific proof, it's just such an obvious easy way to propagandize that I can't imagine some US think tanks NOT doing it
