The vast majority of people are defending the assassin on Yahoo. I think this may be the most popular American assassination in a long long time.

        long comment

Thank you for choosing United Healthcare for your healthcare needs. After a careful review of the claim submitted for emergency services on December 4, 2024, we regret to inform you that your request for coverage has been denied.

Our denial is based on the following findings:

Lack of Prior Authorization: Our records indicate that you failed to obtain prior authorization before seeking care for the gunshot wound to your chest. While we acknowledge the emergent nature of the situation, our policy requires that all non-preventative services, including “unexpected chest injuries,” be pre-approved through our 24/7 Prior Authorization Hotline. Unfortunately, our hotline received no such call during your ambulance transport or at any point before your admission to the emergency room.

        1. Failure to Prove Medical Necessity:

The submitted documentation does not sufficiently demonstrate that treatment for a penetrating chest wound meets the definition of “medically necessary.” Our guidelines specify that life-threatening conditions must be substantiated with a second opinion from a network provider, preferably before care is rendered.

        1. Alternative Options Not Explored:

Based on our retrospective analysis, alternative, more cost-effective treatment options—such as a virtual telehealth consult or at-home first aid—were not attempted prior to your emergency room visit. We understand that you were actively “bleeding out,” but this does not exempt you from exploring lower-cost care pathways.

        1. Out-of-Network Care:

The emergency room where you received treatment is not within our network. While City General is geographically closer to the location of your shooting, our network partner, DiscountCare Clinic, is only 25 miles away and equipped with staplers and gauze for such injuries.

Next Steps: You may file an appeal within 30 days if you believe this decision is incorrect. Appeals must include:

A notarized letter from the attending physician, explaining why you thought you were entitled to not bleed to death while waiting for approval. Evidence that your injuries were, in fact, serious enough to merit immediate attention, such as photos, videos, or live reenactments. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with your plan benefits and utilize in-network providers for future incidents. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our customer support team if you have questions about this

Sincerely and in good health, United Healthcare

P.S. Remember: Preventative care is the best care! If you’d like, we can help you schedule your annual physical or connect you to a mindfulness seminar to prevent future traumatic injuries.

Last year UHC fucked up my medication, it left me bedridden for a month, and I lost my job.

In my (failed) fight for justice and compensation, I had multiple emails with this dead sack of shit Brian Thompson CC'd on them.

This hero shooter is living out my personal fantasy in a very specific way. I hope he is never apprehended, and may he be an inspiration to many more!

a portrait of elegance emerges from the CNN article:

Brian Thompson was walking toward the New York Hilton Hotel in Midtown Manhattan, dressed in a suit and tie, to attend UnitedHealthcare’s annual investor conference being held in the ballroom"

A gunman, who investigators tell CNN was masked in the sub-freezing temperatures, waited for about 10 minutes before Thompson’s arrival, before opening fire from 20 feet away shooting multiple times, striking Thompson."

The gunman fled, cutting through an alleyway and hopping on to a bicycle, the official told CNN."

hope he died in complete terror. only wish I could have been there to piss in his face.

Think of all the life-saving procedures that have been denied that could have been paid for with the catering budget for this investor conference.

Kathy Hocul already proposed banning masks on the NYC subway because of the Gaza protests back in June. Given how dismissive to outright hostile they've been about being reminded of an ongoing pandemic ever since Brandon declared Covid over the first time, the slip is already well-greased. I'm sure many of them will also weep over "political violence" meeting a poor insurance exec who never did anything wrong, too…

The wife of slain health insurance CEO Brian Thompson said Wednesday that her husband had been getting threats before he was gunned down in Midtown Manhattan.

“There had been some threats,” Paulette Thompson told NBC News in her first comments since her husband was murdered early Wednesday.

“Basically, I don’t know, a lack of coverage?” she said, referring to her 50-year-old husband’s role as CEO of UnitedHealthcare’s insurance division.

I have to assume that most of these people just live with non-stop death threats, but that they generally have thought themselves untouchable until now. Imagine being constantly inundated with people calling you and saying shit like "you killed my mom by denying her cancer treatment" and just like...going on with your life. For years. Good fucking riddance and rest in piss.

The ruling class rarely lugs around the security they need 24/7, it’s just too much of a hassle unless you’re Drake or the POTUS.

Judges, CEOs, senators. They all eat out at restaurants. Shop at public luxury stores. Some of them even still get their own groceries. Drive to appointments. Drive to boozed up fundraisers on public roads.

As much as they try to insulate themselves, the bourgeois, by definition, must rub shoulders with the working class. Some of them are smart and took their money and lock themselves in their compounds.

Most are too proud for that. And they have blood running in their veins just like the rest of us.
