Haven't read it but did they consider that many old people haven't been getting the healthcare they need, so many could have undiagnosed disorders that they discover after getting healthcare?

The study also found that people with a pre-existing mental illness were 65% more likely to be diagnosed with COVID-19 than those without.

This part is cooking my noodle.

So does that mean people with mental illnesses were more likely to get a positive result or that they were already in more frequent contact with healthcare professionals and therefore more likely to get tested?

One is kinda alarming and the other seems pretty logical.

Mental health in this political environment can track with poorer physical health and poverty.

I imagine that symptom checks before important appointments are a strong encouragement to get tested

Speaking from personal experience: the first week was fucking awful, because of the fever. After about seven days the fever subsided, but I started feeling REALLY weird, probably a combination of covid brain and dexamethasone. I can definitely see that triggering some kind of preexisting tendency towards mental illness. Reality was really crumbling after 10-14 days of getting my first symptoms. My body felt weird, not only in a "I'm feeling weak and tired" sort of way, but also in a strange way, like my proprioception wasn't working right. Here's me ten days ago: https://hexbear.net/post/45316/comment/406054

I am, thanks! When I'm exercising, I notice that I'm still much weaker than I was before, but it's hard to tell if that's from covid itself, or if it's a result of spending two weeks essentially bedridden.

States are already going over 100% hospital capacity and no one's doing anything, complete disaster. I guessing the USA will break 150 000 cases a day today, complete disaster

          Pandemics have collapsed empires before.

The hospital system is just starting to see the surge and it's already strained to the breaking point, probably past it in North Dakota (asymptomatic nurses coming back to work).

Miracle vaccine has been found, the results of the vaccine trails claim 90% efficiency in preventing covid infection (the FDA and Fauci were looking to approve anything with over 50% efficiency, just to give you an idea). The problem is the manufacturing and distribution of the vaccine, as well as once that's done getting antivaxx Q 12chan to take it. Don't expect to be able to get a vaccine until mid 2021 at the earliest

This is me going full doomer brain but the US was already hitting over 100 000 cases a day during the election. With that level of base infection, the elections and post celebration/chud rage could act as a massive super-spreader event across the whole country. Yeah folks, not good

You're not wrong, the study discusses the stress of being ill as being a trigger, not necessarily that the virus itself is modifying the brain. Other articles I read about this included lower but still elevated risk of mental illness after the flu or breaking a bone. Being sick or injured is stressful, and that can cause problems.

Is this just correlation though? I can imagine that a bunch of poor people who never go to the doctor had to for COVID and then maybe that led to them being more likely to be diagnosed for their already existing conditions.

Also did they control for mental illness from any disease? I mean Covid is probably more traumatic than say serious Pneumonia, but that probably still has a huge mental illness rate.

I suspect it more these people already had mental illnesses but COVID exasperated it and getting COVID is the first time in a while they’ve been surrounded by medical personnel so they were more likely to actually be diagnosed

There have been a variety of vaccines in development this whole time, there's been positive and negative news about them for months. They've been public about their development and testing schedules. There's no conspiracy here, just incompetence in managing it.

Because I’ve been doing extensive research into the deep state, and I’ve been looking to uncover stuff about the murders of Seth Rich, Mary Mohane, Vince Foster, Jeffery Epstein, Stephen Hawking, James McDougal, Ron Brown, Ed Willey, Kathy Ferguson and her husband, Gandy Baugh, Florence Martin, Suzanne Coleman, and dozens more connected to just Clinton alone. If I go ahead with the planned interviews of witnesses, I’ll likely join those names

Because it's potentially biased. That doesn't mean that everything that comes from Chinese media is 100% true and factual as a consequence, nor does it mean everything western media says about China is incorrect. Just because an official narrative may be suspect, does not automatically make any other narrative counter to it valid. You have to discern more carefully what you accept as true or plausible, and get out of this binary thought pattern where anything that postures itself as counter to the bad official story automatically is given more weight. Because if you are not careful you will find yourself becoming disconnected from reality. Don't automatically trust or believe any source outright.
