Am I alpha woman: nightmare of small dicks? What does this mean if I’m gay? So many questions.

measuring my date's fingers to see if his dick's big enough

EDIT: "Reduced financial trading ability" shit this explains everything

so here's the source they use https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2626753/

they got 44 traders and measured their profits and losses along with their digit ratios and apparently the lower the digit ratio the more likely you are to have a higher income, and be in trading for longer. no idea whether it's actually a good study or if it's inherently flawed because of sample sizes or the way they choose subjects or whatever though. you'll need someone smarter than me for that lol.

simplified version of the study would just be "testosterone equals big brain, and the more there is the bigger the brain"

sorry, but to work here you must take a mandatory testosterone test to determine whether your risk taking abilities are high enough for us. standard procedure

i haven’t actually read the studies, so is this modern phrenology?

that's essentially how I view any of that dumb shit like "hair-whorl patterns on gay heads are more likely to go counterclockwise" or "gay men and lesbians are significantly more likely to be left-handed or ambidextrous than non-gay men and women". It always is sourced back to some crackpot psychologist or some equally dumb shit like a participant-reported telephone survey.

Yeah, I mean there's some grains of maybe-truth with respect to "maybe some prenatal hormone exposure, which influences the ratios of these bones, also similarly influences some brain chemistry" but then it's pretty much like, if you look at the left column, mostly just describing someone with ADHD.

Lmao, I have long index fingers and I'm masc as fuck. I'm surprised I haven't spontaneously grown a penis at this point.

How do they come up with this kind of bullshit? Ass-trology for men.

My understanding is that there are some non-stupid reasons to believe that some traits, especially traits related to hormones, gender and sexuality, are correlated with digit ratios.

As is usually the case with anything in science, finding a positive correlation between two things is not the same thing as saying that one thing definitely 100% determines the other, and it would be a mistake to come to conclusions about any individual, including yourself, based on your digit ratio (e.g. if you already know what your gender and sexual orientation are, knowing your digit ratio shouldn't make you doubt yourself.)

In a sane world, discovering a correlation like this would just be a neat bit of trivia, like how being red-haired is supposedly correlated with needing more anesthesia, instead of being used to try to justify... whatever point this guy is trying to make.

The fun thing with correlations is that they could work either way. So if I flip the expected causation then just stretch out my index or ring finger I can be fem or masc. Sweeeeet

I didn't know they applied this to women too. My brother makes fun of me because apparently my index finger makes me more likely to be a homosexual according to this infographic he sent me - https://hexbear.net/pictrs/image/B5EnFLvHH6.jpg

I have one of each. My left hand is the "feminine" hand and my right is the "masculine" hand. I guess it's fitting that I'm trans and bisexual then?

My ex was bi with a low digit ratio. Could be a coincidence, of course. But it was fun for us to learn about digit ratios, check her hand, and go, "yup, checks out".

You should counter with the study that finds a correlation between homosexuality and penis length (gay men have BDE apparently).

It's the one on the end. See, just like programming, you index from the start with zero and increment.

Reduced risk of video game addiction -- lol, lies
Higher verbal fluency in both sexes -- I trip over my words all the time
Higher literacy (compared to numeracy) in children -- I've always been more mathy than wordy
Tendency toward monogamy -- Ok, that's true
