I wonder if she slipped on ice and was too hurt to get to safety. I fell once in an isolated spot. I knew I'd fucked up my ankle to some degree, but before I dared to try to stand up and test it out, I just sat there for a bit thinking about how far I was going to have to crawl to get to any kind of help. It ended up being a very bad sprain but I could still walk on it, so I was OK, but those moments before I knew whether I'd be limping or crawling to get help were the most scared and alone I've ever felt in my life, and I hate thinking that this might be how someone ended up frozen to death on a sidewalk.

Holy crap, I did this once when I was trail running. I was probably about 2-3 miles into the woods and I rolled my ankle really badly, it was a barely used trail and getting late and I knew there was basically zero chance of someone finding me by accident before sundown. Thankfully after about 15 minutes I was able to put some weight on it and hobble out, but it was terrifying thinking about how I was going to crawl along a very rocky trail for 2+ miles.

Truly a hellworld that we live in where that can happen to someone in the middle of a city.

Cue paranoid me texting every 10 mins when a friend tells me they're going for a jog or a bike ride.

It really is horrifying to think about. I can imagine the whole scene, even though I'm trying not to.

If anyone hasn't read it, "White Trash" by Nancy Isenberg describes the history and type of person that liberals feel comfortable being bigoted toward.

Many liberals are quite happy to be bigoted towards any group, even POC, that its not cool to be woke about. I've seen ostensibly liberal people crack jokes (and sometimes even say things seriously) about Asian people that they absolutely would not say about black or latino folks.

I remember a teacher in high school that mentioned White Trash as being a person that white people were "obviously" better than. It's always stuck with me. It's a weird form of racism on the surface level.

How convenient for local Texan capitalists that unhoused, unsheltered people die off during winter. Miserly scumfucks.

People will watch an endless chain of atrocities and do absolutely fucking nothing as long as they can tell themselves "It's okay, in three years we are going to :vote: and everything will get better."

Who cares even if they were. This sort of moralizing and atomizing peoples suffering due to individuals is the most frustrating aspect of US discourse.

millions of people in the third world die every day specifically so millions of Americans can live in excess every day. cold weather will end soon, the other thing wont. And Americans know this and dont want it any other way, they love it!
