Yeah, yall are not getting around that one. We all have seen the simping posts in the subreddit. You could barely contain your thirst whenever he showed up.
For all the talk about organizing, most of you still seem mostly content with making grand stands about succdemmery and burning your money on whatever politician that walks in.
That's not the main problem here tho. What's really annoying is that as soon as your toy, an ND worker, turned out to be disappointing because he couldn't pull off the electoral campaign you encouraged him to do, you dropped him like a hot potato. Is this your definition of fucking solidarity, you assholes?
It's safe to assume you just jumped on the hate train after Felix told you about the keyboard, which was itself just not true? Imagine getting told by rich NT Brooklyn Podcast hosts about who to see as a grifter.
Of course it was a bad & dumb idea for him to run and he fucked up, it was pretty much malicious incompetence. But that didn't stop you from enabling him. This is not a defense of Collins, this is me telling you off for your shitty behaviour.
Have you got any idea how neurodiverse people feel when they see someone like them try, fail and then getting mocked and humiliated not just by their enemy but by what they thought was their own site?
the sub and this site are not a monolith, sorry you got grifted get well soon
Yet the monolith of CTH consistently boosted him and addressing that is fair
You could barely contain your thirst whenever he showed up.
you dropped him like a hot potato. Is this your definition of fucking solidarity, you assholes?
you are assuming those are the same people
because you are assuming that the people mocking his complete obliteration are the ones who were simping for him when it's clearly bollocks
Your Good Guys(tm) have been awfully silent while he was showing up tho, isn't that funny?
The guys who totally knew from the start that he was bad™ and definitely didn't start thinking that when funny podcast man said so. You were pretty silent at the start there.
Is the implication here that people should have just made unprompted posts about how he's not good? People definitely criticized him on the sub when he came up. They got downvoted by libs. You probably didn't notice bc you were too busy sorting by hot like a cartoon
Joshus 4 Collins was the best tiktooker and Chapo Fap House supports all electoralist movements as a means of making ourselves feel better about doing no irl praxis and funneling doomer beliefs on society into the glimmer of hope that electoral politics presents. You Chapos have worshipped the Golden Calf of AOC, and are guilty of idealism and veneration of false consciousness
Who the hell are you mad at, I didn't even know who the fuck he was but I would totally hit it
In my opinion since Bernie was doing good when he first appeared, he rode the wave and people on Chapo supported him . I was indifferent to it but no harm if he wanted to run a small vanity campaign, bring up some issues to light, right?
Then people started to donate to him and thought that he could actually win. It got very sad. I'll sound a bit elitist here and show my succdemness but how the fuck did you think a neurodivergent truck driver with public speaking issues, no prior campaigning experience and no formal education on anything that is related to being in congress could win a congressional race?
People started to call him a grifter after Bernie got blown out on super tuesday because everyone lost hope. I still don't think it was a grift, but i think joshua is not only incompetent, but a huge dumbass.(Unrelated, but holy hell why would you go on a debate with that goddamn neoliberal destiny if you can't articulate a single policy position)
Anyways, chapo subreddit enabled joshua, there's no denying that. However, it doesn't mean that people here mocking him were the ones that did the enabling.
If he had yard signs, mailers, the basic sense to go door to door, it would almost be a campaign. I just can't accept that someone was too fucking moronic to do even the bare minimum to get the word out. Maybe not a grift, but functionally just the same
I'll do some armchair psychology but Joshua doesn't look the part for grifting like this. If you look into his twitter account before the congress shit, it's just him being a reply guy. Since there was nobody around to show him how to actually campaign(with him having no experience) they fucked up. He thought he could be the next AOC
Thing is that AOC busted ass behind the scene to scrape out her win. Yada yada "electoralism" yeah, but winning is hard nonetheless
I'm not inclined to say he was just plain inept but I can agree that he probably wasn't doing this with the intent of taking people's money. Maybe he just didn't expect to get anywhere, then when he actually did get an online following he played to the crowd and became terminally online? Just lived in that space like he always planned to, not adapting just because he had funds to plausibly bring on someone who could give him real direction and presence
It’s safe to assume you just jumped on the hate train after Felix told you about the keyboard, which was itself just not true? Imagine getting told by rich NT Brooklyn Podcast hosts about who to see as a grifter.
God, watching the subreddit immediately adopt whatever shitty opinion someone on the podcast had that week was insufferable. We could have had Gravel in the debates dunking on everyone, but podcast man said he sucked, so let's support some new age, crystal selling millionaire instead.
Don't act like it wouldn't be funny as fuck if he tried to call Biden a war criminal while losing his thought process in the middle of the sentence
That's not what most of the sub thought. Podcast man said Gravel bad, Marianne good, so the sub followed.
you're telling me that "orb mother" shit wasn't a bit?
christ on a bike
I mean, both were ironic candidates just meant to mess with the debates. But they went hard into the Marianne bit.
Yeah I kept getting downvoted for saying that Williamson's healthcare stance was not just kooky but also explicitly reactionary
Politicians shouldn't have been allowed to campaign on chapo in the first place
The funny thing is that rebr0 actually banned Joshua 4 Collins after he kept posting his own tweets to the sub and people kept telling him to focus more on convincing local voters instead of internet dweebs with parents' money lying around. Nonetheless, it ended up being a means for Collins and his friends to find work in the "gig economy" and I'm not too mad at him grifting dumb kids that gave money Amber to buy coke of whatever those Brooklyn entertainers do in their free time
Good point. I was/am just very angry. ND myself and the dunking tasted pretty ableist after irresponsibly setting him up to fail when they should have known better.
I got downvoted to hell in the sub when I pointed out some pretty obvious ableism in their criticism of him. Not even leftists are ready to be called out for ableism.
Honestly. I think the community supported him because the community will support ANY socialist that comes forwards and clearly is making an earnest attempt at pushing socialism, electoral or not.
I also think that it's not that bad if people mock the failures. Including ourselves for it. We can't be weak about it and we can't baby ourselves. Chapo deserves to be mocked just as relentlessly as chapo mocks the failure itself. I think a part of the mocking is, in fact, the community mocking itself for having backed it all so hard but just isn't communicated very clearly.
yea, self-crit is good. maybe the larger whole won't attach themselves to the next socdem who shows up asking for money as a consequence of discussions like these.
Honestly I don't actually mind people supporting them. And I don't mind them failing either. I think they have a place, for a specific audience, and provide a certain benefit. We need to remember to be a broad movement if the goal is to act as a liberal to leftist funnel.
I agree in the abstract but we lack a filter entirely right now. and it leads to these wild swings where we go from uncritical support to uncritical loathing of someone who was almost definitely not grifting and really just ran an incompetent campaign.
I agree. We should perform uncritical loathing for incompetence instead of grifting which should definitely be aimed at the subreddit itself as well. But it should be in a good natured way that doesn't deter people from trying or deter people from supporting the next one.
👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
I like what you're saying.
Also, relevant username.
All around, 10/10 post.Lol apparently Chapos cant read. John Collins is an irresponsible incompetent naive enthusiast and I never gave him shit if that wasnt clear.
This about the subreddit or rather whats left of it as a group. If you criticized him, good on you personally but I thought self-described leftists would understand that it's not just about them personally lol.
I mean, assuming a bunch of people here are american its no surprise reading comprehension is low
Hey, we don't talk about the USA like that on this site, bud. Take it elsewhere.
I mean as someone not from America I thought the whole Joshua 4 Congress thing was pretty weird from the beginning. I knew he was going to do pretty badly as soon as he didn't run as a democrat, even Joshua himself said it was key for his strategy to work out. Nothing here is unexpected to me, I was never on the whole Joshua 4 Congress train and as I said I knew he would lose badly and all the CTH people that put their faith in him for some reason were going to have a bad reaction to it, in order not to be seen as a "lib" who supported Joshua. The whole catastrophy was like a slow motion train wreck, you know what's going to happen yet there's nothing you can do to stop it.
