a hellfire missile has a "kill radius" of 50 feet, and a "effective casualty radius" of 200 feet. It would take out the trolley, but everyone else too. if you put it that way, its a decent metaphor!

No one could unironically believe this. If hellfire missiles could solve the problems in the middle East, they'd be using them back home and tell everyone down there to go fuck themselves.

Wait until the riots re-start, they might use them back home...

When the concept of public transportation is so alien that the thought that people might be riding the trolley never crosses your mind.

a hellfire missile does nothing to eradicate the deeper systemic issues and conditions that lead to people being tied up on trolley tracks

Literally got in a dumb internet fight with a neolib where he accused me of wanting people to die because I'm against intervention in the Middle East.

They also love bringing up the Bosnian genocide and Kosovo.

Wasn't that genocide spiked up because of US involvement in the conflict? Did the bombs "helped" that situation in any way?

That genocide happens because of the war on Communism in the first place.

More like the hellfire missile will bomb the people on all the tracks so that the trolley doesn't experience any problems

What sort of person looks at this thought experiment and walks away believing that the people on the trolley are the problem?

the trolley is the problem is not as if we could stop tying people up on the rails

"and 90% of the time the missle kills a civilian, can you trust your judgement on this and are your interests antithetical to those who live near the trolley?"
