I know people love to turn him into a meme, but it's pretty tone-deaf.

I really hope the post is for us to dunk on this meme

Assad prevailing in the syria conflict over any other even remotely realistic alternative (and the ones that were and are founded by the westagainst him), overcoming US imperialist attacks and underming and stabilizing his government represents a significant reduction in death, pain ,hunger and suffering for 10+ million syrians and for the surrounding ereas as well. I dont know how anyone with a pair of fucking eyes cant see that in the whole situation. It doesnt matter what you personaly think about Assad. Any leftist would be absolutely right to support him

Yeah its harm reduction. An actual and significant one for that country. The point isnt to NEVER support any harm reduction. Otherwise you yankee fuckers shouldnt have supported Bernie either. (Who btw has voted for and supported worse war crimes than Assad has ever committed ,even accused of committing,so I didnt see y'all thinking it twice back then). And even that isnt comparable to the harm reduction even someone like Assad is against the great Satan .Its absolutrely moronic to compare and equate that struggle and choice of support to fucking hillary clinton in the US elections.

Again im Greek. I literally have syrians displaced by the destruction of Syria brought by the empire living in my neighbourhood. I have met and talked with dozens of syrians doing work with refugees. Maybe you wanna ask them a question about this?

jfc posts like these really anger me even tho they shouldnt. How detatched from the conflict and armchaired you must be to make memes like this

And what War Crimes especially. The chemichal attacks that have been the no 1 talking point for years and have been utterly debunked? Im sure there are legit ones, i know there are. But at least after that coming out maybe people should think twice about yelling about "Assads war crimes"

Hope you get a bit of shame and delete this

Also nowdays being against Assad means nothing now that the Civil war is basically over with the current map looking like this the best case scenario now is if the Kurds make a Deal with Assad to gain autonomy over the land they have and unite against the Turks and the islamists.

But the USA keep pushing Independence for the Kurds only to prolong the conflict for no reason except for military contracts and Syrian oil.

Assad memes are not an endorsement of Assad

Not wanting to have interventions in Syria is not an endorsement of Assad

i agree with you $:100-com: but i have seen with my own eye people using assad meme threads to state the quote in OP's image, thought that was more on /r/cth and not on chacha

No, chacha too. You can see it in threads like this one. Granted, they're mostly downvoted, but it's a contrarian, reactionary take that still bubbles to the surface.

Hey I made that thread. And honestly overall I was happy with the discourse that went down. I didn’t really see that much reactionary stuff going on, frankly.

      They kind of are though.

Online discourse isn't capable of handling irony in the long term. If a community does a bit long enough the simplest interpretation of it (in this case ASSAD GOOD) eventually just becomes the unironic consensus opinion.

Go find me someone on this website that says Assad is an anti-imperialist (that isn't banned). OP already linked a post, and no one there called him an anti-Imperialist, or even went further than giving critical support to stave off US imperial meddling. Until you can convince me that somehow this website is full of unironic pro-Assad weirdos, I'm going to keep having fun on a website that spun off of a subreddit that spun off of a podcast dedicated to ironic shitposting

the guy who made this isnt a trot, he is a self proclaimed "anarchist" that believes all violence is bad and you should give fascists free speech and not punch them, he is also anti-revolution and he is super into electoralism and during the election went super pro biden, you would think most of his comics are calling ML tankies but the guys criticizes other anarchists more than MLs

I always see that term and wonder about its ambiguous meaning.

      Urban dictionary:

trotskyist: A socialist (not a communist) who follows the political ideas of intellectual Soviet Revolutionary and writer Leon Trotsky. Trotsky belived that democracy can not survive in a capitalist system (because it will be overtaken by the oppressive elite, sound familiar?), and that socialism can not exist without regular democratic elections (because it will be overtaken by a egomaniacal fascist piece of shit like Stalin, Lenin, or Mao). They also belive that the ultimate goal of socialism is to bring about world peace and create a global community where all people are equal. Naturally, Trotskyists (or trots) are hated by both right wing AND left wing fascists.

Okay, well I won't vote for Assad or Hillary.

Like really, as an American, the question to me is not "should Assad be president, or someone better?" the question to Americans and their politicians is "should America wage economic and hot war on Syria, while arming and supporting the genocidal Turkish government occupation of Northern Syria?????"

    You see the difference there?

Hillary vs Trump is the exact same as Imperialism vs Anti-Imperialism.

Hm... choosing to electorally fight for one imperialist vs the other imperialist and the other choice is a target of imperial conquest.

I CANT TELL WHICH ONE IS THE ANTI-IMPERIALIST CHOICE TO CRITICALLY SUPPORT

It's the same game we played in Iraq.

"They've got WMDs! And if you don't believe that, consider that they're sponsoring international terrorism! And if that doesn't work, how about how they massacred the Kurds! And if you don't care, you must be in gay love with Saddam Hussein!"

Literally just Say Anything but for invasion.
